I admit I don't know all the songs he is parodying anymore, which means when I do hear the original song later, I still hear his lyrics in my head.  It has made some of the songs tolerable.

We are a 3-generation Weird Al family, with my dad introducing me to Weird Al and Dr. Demento when I was 12 and him also buying my daughter her first CD (Running with Scissors) when she was 6.  And we have been to see him 3 times.

Oh yeah, that's right...he's actually a musician.

In fairness, he said his next album would probably be his last, he said his back on June 2013 and I don't believe an album has come out since that date...  http://www.uproxx.com/music/2013/06/weird-al-yankovic-says-his-next-a l bum-will-be-his-last/

Quoting the quote from the link:

"I have one more album on my contract, and I'm looking forward to doing more digital distribution," Yankovic says in a call from his Los Angeles home. "Because I think, particularly with what I have to do, I need to be as immediate as possible, and that means getting my material out quickly...So, I don't even know after this next CD if I'll be doing any kind of traditional releases anymore because it seems like everything I do is geared more toward being online and being immediate. And I'm doing my best to figure out a way to do that."

Do ya'll actually read this stuff? I mean, the words form sentences that convey meanings and EVERYTHING!

Can we just appoint Weird Al king until Congress has been properly fumigated?

Gave daughter no 2 open slather to pick her first concert, said I'd go with her. Dread filled my soul. The one of those shining moments came, that confirm your parenting style and leave you feeling bathed in glory for one brief moment of utter joy.

She picked Weird Al.

And yes, it was all it was meant to be, the stuff of dreams, magic and wonder. And some spifftacular musical ability demonstrated too. Wonderful memory:)

Hope he plays near me again.  One of the best live acts I've ever seen.  His band is incredible, constant costume changes for Al, and he puts a ton of effort into the performance.

I love Al, but modern music pretty much parodies itself and is boring as fark.  I don't know how he's going to pull it off.

There's no way to parody techno, dubstep, or whatever the crap that Skrillex puts out is called.  Unless you want to go real highbrow and do a John Cage on them.

That's what his "Polka Your Eyes Out" compilation songs are for. Songs that are otherwise hard to parody just sound ridiculous when put to polka.

This is one time I hope he skips the medley.

He didn't say it's his last album dudes, he said it was his last album he was releasing through traditional distribution channels. Al's going digital after this.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: Well that is good news.

But he's also said elsewhere that it's going to be his last, sadly

But he had a good long run, and was always an under appareciated musician.   I saw the Ramones on their farewell tour, David bowie from 25ft away in a smoky nightclub, George Clinton back in the day, Chuck Brown and  Johnny Cash at the 9:30 club David Bowie doing duets with Trent Reznor in a giant arena show, and musically Weird Al's show still ranks as one of the best I've ever seen.   That man plays a mean guitar when he wants to

Alphax: Problem with his parodies of pop music nowadays, I don't know the original songs anymore.

Same here.  But fortunately, some of his parodies are funny on their own merits, without having to know the original.  As a youngster, I loved "Dare to Be Stupid" long before I knew what a "Devo" is, and I still don't know what the original song was that he used to make "I Lost on Jeopardy" (yeah, I could look it up, but that'd be a minute out of my day that could be spent arguing with people in Fark threads).

Millennium: So much for that last one actually being his last, I guess.

Which is not to say that I object in the slightest.

Well he said he didn;t see himself putting out an actual CD, not "I AM DONE MAKING MUSIC KTHXBYE".
