oh you mean there might be a few glitches as the sites go live and people flood them with traffic just to see if they're working?  thanks obama.

OMG, you mean websites that are getting hundreds of thousands of visitors at a time might be having a problem handling the volume? That's never happened in the history of the intertubes!

Well Obamacare must be a failure, since no one can sign up for it. after all, if you can't sign up withing the first 24 hours of it going live, you may as well give up.

Well it got EA voted the worst company in America. Where was all this understanding when it took so long to log onto Simcity? We had thread after thread of EA hate. And that's a private company with a fraction of the money and manpower the federal government has.

And that was a fricking video game. If Fark is to be believed people are dying in the streets for want of this program.

So, they are being overloaded with heavy volume, people want to get coverage as soon as it's available?  Must be unpopular.

@MarylandConnect isn't allowing people to sign up or browse.

Well, it's officially October 1st and DC's health exchange link does not have an "apply" button yet.

Wanna chat with someone about enrolling in #Obamacare? "No such user exists"

doesn't sound like this is volume-related, but just non-working functionality.

Yes,  people complaining about having paid for a product that they cannot use because a website is down is exactly like a minor inconvenience of having to wait till an initial rush to sign up for a government program is over.

If Fark is to be believed people are dying in the streets for want of this program.

You do realize that the insurance doesn't take effect until Januaray 1, right? And that whether you sign up today or December 31 you will still get insurance, right?

This is about the standard of quality one can expect from Obamacare - from the actual health care to the government accounting and reimbursement systems used to reimburse doctors and health care providers.

ManateeGag: Obama already death-paneled my grandma.

Actually my mom was "death paneled". They took a look at her age, health, and chances of a full recovery and decided that she was even going on the organ repentant list. Some group some where gave my mother a death sentence without ever meeting her. Mind you I understand, intellectually. But I can't say I wasn't hurt at the time.

But this happened in 07, so I guess I could blame Bush for it.

nekom: Strange.  It's almost as if there are a lot of people desperately seeking health insurance.

How much do you want to bet it's just a bunch of looky-loos? And people who want to watch it fail? Remember this is going to fail and the Democrats are going to blame the Republicans for it. Since the Democrats wrote the bill the only way they can blame the Republicans is because the Republicans slashed the funding for advertising. Big numbers trying to get to the sites on day one isn't going to bode well for the Democrat's narrative

From Harry Reid as reported by Yahoo news

Definitely a sinister government panel and not a profit-minded insurance company. Definitely.

You do realize the exchanges were supposed to open today?  They were supposed to be open for people to sign up for insurance today?  If they weren't ready to go, the date could have been delayed.  But we were told they were ready and working.

Fine, if the websites are not ready yet, let's make sure we give everyone enough time to sign up.  Let's delay Obamacare until 2015.  Let's get the exchange web sites working and ready for 2015.  I have no problem delaying it until then if the sites aren't ready yet.

Mine you I didn't biatch then, and I'm not biatching now. I was just pointing out all the understand that was flowing from Fark about an issue that normally gets hundreds of flame posts. I understand that when you open something like this up there will be issues. Tons of issues. My only point was the reaction those problems were getting.

That was the point. I have no idea. Like I said in the post you quoted. "somebody somewhere". I was just informed by the doctor that she was rejected for the organ recipient list. Now I own every single episode of House MD and if that is really a documentary I know how the system works, if not well I really have no idea.

It sounds like you were in a terrible unfortunate situation.  The flip side of that:  My ex-wife's grandmother suffered a massive heart attack.  We went to the hospital to say our goodbyes, they didn't think she'd survive the night.  2 years later, "living" in hospitals and nursing homes, multiple surgeries, MILLIONS of dollars later she finally passed away.  Were those 2 years really living?  Was it worth it all?  They thought so, and if it was my mother I'm guessing I'd feel the same, but who wants to live a few years being kept alive by machinery, unable to do anything at all and not really even sure where you are?

You really have no idea how it works do you? The hospital doesn't check with your provider before providing care. The hospital does what it does then turns the bill over to the insurance provider. The insurance company then says what it will or will not cover. If it worked like you believed the evil profit-minded insurance company could vote anything it wasn't going to pay for. Therefore no one would ever go broke from medical bills! Because the hospital would never do anything that wasn't covered or paid for out of pocket.

Upside no one going broke from medical bills, down side bunch of dead people that didn't need to die.

My dad said to me the other day, "the same people who run the DMV will run healthcare!"

The next day I went online and re-registered my vehicle and it took 10 minutes and was super easy.

Thanks, BHOB

I had to register 2 cars up here in CNY in the past 2 years. Both times it was simple, easy, and the fairly quick, even on a monday. And everyone of the DMV staff was pleasant and helpful.

That's a hell of an anecdote you have, there.

Well they are giving people to March to sign up for this shiat and the IRS has already stated that there will be a three month gap allowed avoid penalty and still get the subsidy sooooo yeah not really worried.

What I want to know is when the Health and Human services will issue a decision on the Medicaid expansion for some states, like in IN who wants to funnel it through their Hoosier Healthwise system already in place. Everyone agrees it would be retarded to spin up an entire new system just for the expansion but apparently the way the law is written they are having a hard time justifying the expansion through the existing program.

Well, I sort of went though the same thing. My mom lasted a little under a year with an ICD in her chest. Turns out the lead that attached to her heart were faulty and the device would "storm". Many unnecessary shocks all in a row. Some times as bad 8 or 9 in a ten minute time frame. The medical bill weren't as bad as full time ICU charges but she came to regret the decision of getting the device.

Ever see someone get defibulated? Now imagine someone you love going through that over and over again with no way to stop it. Let me tell you it was fun times.

Most recently, I took a car out of service to repair and/or part out, so I canceled the insurance. DMV sent me a notice advising that I needed to either unregister the car or pay the uninsured motorist fee within like 60 days. I waited at the DMV for about 10 minutes, had a three minute interaction with the lady at the window, received a confirmation that my car was unregistered, and I was given an exact calculation of the refund for the remainder of the registration period. Within a week I had the check for the refund. THANKS OBAMA.

Only in video, never in person thankfully.  I can only imagine it's heartbreaking.  Most of my loved ones that left were smoking related, also not a pleasant thing to watch.  I couldn't agree more with your earlier sentiment, all of the logic and reason tell you that in many cases, it's best just to let go, but when it's somebody you care about it's really easy for all of that to go out the window.  That's why I never fault anyone, whatever decision they make, when faced with such a no-win situation.

if we dump 18 Billion dollars on it next year in subsidies we can make it work a little better.

We could budget an extra 25 Billion for it and make sure it is working except for the fact that President Obama has failed to create a budget for 5 years.

His budgets are so far off,  so far out in the weeds..... that even in his Democrat controlled Harry Reid Sentate ......  he got ZERO votes.

Yikes !      Seems like we are having an Obamanomics failure.
