Obama is calling Rouhani because it's easier to negotiate with Iran than the Republican party.

That's pre-9/11 thinking! APPEASEMENT! NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN! WORDS! I THINK THE STUDENT-AND-LOAN HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS. ARISTOTLE WAS BELGIAN.

FTFY.

That said, it's absurd that people would ever criticize any sort of diplomatic overtures, regardless of whether it's with an "enemy" or not.  It's a sign of strength, not weakness.  There's never a justification for accomplishing by force what can be done without it.  Even if the effort fails, you've at least tried.  The hawks seem to really have it backwards on this one.  In their world, talking is what you do when the use of force fails.

DIplomatic dialogue is ALWAYS appropriate, regardless of the outcome.  As Churchill said, "When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite."

Well, yeah. Iran doesn't like the U.S., but it's not hell-bent on its destruction.

More then that, maybe, just maybe, the US can thaw relations with Iran in the next decade to create a stabilizing influence in the Middle East that while maybe not an ally is not an enemy. Then as continuing relations proceed over the following decades turn them into what China or Saudi Arabia is to the US not quite allies, not enemies, but trading partners.

And that kind of market dependence is probably more reliable than a a merely political alliance. Provided the teatards don't crash the economy trying to prove the Blah man in the Wha House is teh evul.

"the only thing to fear, is Israel itself".

/Man, Israel is so anti-Iranian.

//Considering what the CIA and traitor Reagan(overthrew Carter with backdoor deals) did to Iran over the decades, Better to talk instead of rattling the nukes over Iran's head.
///Next up is the concentration camp known as Palestine and how the world is scared of Israel and its nukes.

sheep snorter: Next up is the concentration camp known as Palestine and how the world is scared of Israel and its nukes

There is no such thing as "Palestine" so i assume you mean Gaza ? gee i wonder why Israel has no open borders with them.. maybe something to do with their 'Jihad' on the jews and decade of bombing Israeli cities ? Do you mean The West Bank ? from your idiotic comparison i assume you never visited and are simply clueless.

And your comparison is insultingly retarded. Now if you excuse me i got to shovel those dead palestinians back to the crematorium.

Shouldn't he call him "President Rouhani"? "Maybe" sounds so intimate.
