Does Huey Lewis still get a chunk of that?

The intro to this actually had a fairly decent reproduction of the song.

Ray Parker Jr.'s early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Ghostbusters came out in '84, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The song has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the chorus a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Ray has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

ristst: Would Led Zepplin get a cut too?

Whoa there, sorry...Zep was the band ripping off OTHER artists!

/wonder if I'll get any bites for this one
//but it's true

And Richie Blackmore was NOT the first to come up with the riff for Smoke on the Water....

I'm of the opinion that Ray Parker didn't so much plagarize...it just happened to be released in the same time frame as Huey Lewis.  Put that song on the air 15yrs later and it probably wouldn't have raised an eyebrow.

Zepplin stealing is a bit of a stretch though, the band was gonna list them but their manager stopped them from giving any credits away because it meant less money for them and ultimately him as well. This is the same huge man who was a dick to promoters, shoved people who wouldn't get out of his way, and was overall just a huge douchebag. Jimmy Page was apologetic to artists who influenced and who they had based a few of their songs but ultimately saying they are thieves is crazy since most of their best songs were original, they hits I wouldn't consider their best. Also I forget the documentary I saw but they wound up paying those old blues artists later.

I still don't know how the bar-kays deserve anything though.

1. What Zeppelin fans don't know this?

2. Why do so many people love to be that guy,  the one who "reveals" this "dark secret" that everyone already knows?

If by bites, you mean "people who totally agree", then I guess you got one from me.
