TFA: For those of you born after the days of rabbit ears, UHF stands for ultra high frequency and refers to channels above 13. A UHF signal was not as strong as a VHF signal. VHF stands for very high frequency and refers to channels 2 through 13. Why "ultra" was weaker than "very" when it seems that it should have been the other way around will just have to remain a mystery.

Farking electromagnetic waves, how do they work?

Or to stick with the theme of this thread,

STUPID! You're so STU-PIIIIIIIIIIID!

Yeah, they don't get that usually higher frequencies mean less transmission range.

To the author of the article: "Oh, shut up, you pinhead! You make me SICK!"

Came in to bring this particular nugget up.  Seems a hell of a lot of research the author put into this article...

Like the author actually cares about radio waves, the UHF spectrum, or facts.

As I recall, most of the digital spectrum was in the UHF range and the VHF range was to be deprecated and resold.

Which makes me very confused by this article.

Wow, and they're one of the most-respected news sources of the city at the farking epicenter of the TV industry. That'd be like the Detriot Free Press not understanding what a V8 engine is, and not bothering to look it up.

That information means about as much to the author as a festering bowl of dog snot.

The reporter's lack of science fundamentals notwithstanding, the thrust of the article is about the business implications of removing the UHF "discount".  By limiting the number of stations that can be owned by a media group, the change has massive political implications for republican-leaning companies like Sinclair broadcasting.
