If he smoked it all himself he might get a lung disease.

Damn, I miss the good old days when bus drivers had integrity.  Ralph Kramden was no snitch.

"dope"? Is subby 90?

Not sure how the transactions work, but if he was expected to pay the distributor out of his earnings, and he lost a pound...He's probably going to be found dead in the near future.

One time I had a bag in my lap and it fell out in the bank parking lot.   Went back 40 minutes later and it was still there.  I waved to the security cameras.

GRCooper: "dope"? Is subby 90?

That's it ...redefine the words. It's what Lenin and every other tyrant did and does. Like the US Congress seeking to redefine the meaning of the word Cancer so they don't have to treat as many people for Cancer. Change the word and its meaning.

It's dope. It's been  dope.It will always be  dope.

Dictionary: a drug taken illegally for recreational purposes, esp. marijuana or heroin.

You mean like this bus driver that found 2 pounds of pot

Remarkably, city buses are a reasonably safe method of transporting whatever (in my case illicit copies of Disney's Song of the South) without as much fear of being stopped, searched, seized, tased etc.  But don't leave it behind.

I've known plenty of pop smokers in my life, not a single one ever called it "dope".  There term is a media myth.

"The man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking."

How do they know he was planning on trafficking it? A pound of weed would likely last me a few years, even if I found somebody to pass the bowl to. And it makes much more sense to use it myself than to sell it and then not have weed to smoke: it's bad enough that smoking it destroys it.

Come to think of it, I haven't had any pot since moving to Lexington KY 5 years ago: I'm actually too pathologically shy to make friends and I can't picture asking a stranger where I could could get some. Assuming I could afford it, anyway.

So would somebody mind leaving say one thin joint on a Lextran bus sometime? Just let me know which & when. EIP!

I have a family member that is a retired police officer and he's the only person i know who calls it dope. Apparently him and fellow officers would even call marijuana smokers "dope suckers".

Totally demeaning. As if it makes you dopey, or people who smoke it are dopes. If anything deserves the title 'dope' it's alcohol, or any number of pills you can be subscribed that make you an apathetic drooling mess.

If he keeps his mouth shut, and can afford to hire a real criminal defense lawyer, he will probably beat the charges.  The prosecutor would need to prove that it was his backpack, and the pot was inside the backpack while the pack was in his possession.   A smart lawyer will question whether anyone else had access to the backpack between the time it was left on the bus, and the time the dude picked it up.  Moral of the story:  Keep your mouth shut, admit nothing.

These are the same people who call alleged perpetrators 'bad guys'. Professional trained law enforcement, why do you speak like a 7 year old at play time? It is a clear reflection of the mentality they possess.

An LB of weed goes anywhere from $400 for Mexican ditch weed to several thousand dollars. Enough to get you into a work agreement if you "lose" it, but probably not enough to get killed over, unless you are dealing with psycho's.

I don't think losing a single pound would get you killed.  Might get a good ass beating, and you're damn sure going to be working that off, but even most drug dealers aren't going to kill someone over a couple grand.  Not unless you're already on the shiat list.

Not if the Liberals NDP & Greens have their way!

Get out and vote, Canadians.

FTFY. The Liberals had huge majorities through the 90s and into the 2000s, and did nothing to legalize cannabis. They are an old party of old business interests (Seagrams and Imperial Tobacco's favourite party based on funding), and the green flag they're trying to wave now is utterly stained with the years their lack of action caused countless Canadians to be incarcerated and fined over a plant with major medicinal and psychological benefits. I think it's great Justin likes a little herb now and again, but I have no reason to believe the Libs will give us anything different than the Cons based on their track record. It's time for new parties without so many well-entrenched controlling interests that run contrary to the needs our citizens. Grass-roots movements if you prefer..
