This sounds like the plot for a bad 1980s movie. Uniting war orphans through skateboarding.

Throw in Herbie the Love Bug and Benjie the dog, and got a deal!

Never played the first one, but the second one is cool. Liked all the music from the first level.

The second was definitely Nintendo Hard. The first brings back lots of awesome multiplayer memories.

These kids in Afghanistan don't know about real danger. My first skateboard had steel wheels. Hit a pebble and you'd faceplant, every time. And helmets and kneepads were unheard of.

Wait, I thought we fought a war with the Taliban like a decade ago or something.  Are they back?

When I was a kid, my friend had a sleep over. His dad was a manager of a building in UBC that had the arcade. We got 720 and the origional Street fighter (the 2d one that was like double dragon before the 2 player VS. one) in his basement for the night. By morning I could finish both games with 1 credit. (25 cents at the time)

...on a six-pack of Budweiser!  (Had to paraphrase, don't remember the quote.  Haven't seen that movie in...I'll just say "a while" and leave it at that.)

Was it a Nash?

No, just some uber-cheap knockoff, probably bought at Gemco. (Anybody remember Gemco?) I remember the board was tiny by today's standards, and made from blue plastic.

Gemco was where I bought my Nash

I'll trade you some tacos for a new board.

I don't remember Gemco (might be a regional thing), but yeah, I had Nash which was an orange plastic thing about 2'x8" or so.  No grip, no kicktail (is that what they called it?  I never really learned to skate.  I blame the board, but that may be bullsh*t.), no guards, no anything.  The great thing was you couldn't really get up a lot of speed (unless you were towing a car...don't do that on one of those), because the wheels/bearings blew goats, so you'd kick like hell for thirty feet to coast for five.  When you hit that pebble, as often as not, the board would stop, and you could run for a bit until you outran your legs and THEN you'd bite it.  Left ample time to mentally prepare to taste concrete.

That was my poor white trash ass, though.  Some kids had better boards, the Powell Peraltas and Visions, even though Visions sucked.  I can't remember what else.  But does anybody remember the big fat Gargoyles?  Were those Visions?  Those were decent, as I recall.

Sorry if tl;dr.  Drunk, and may be time for bed.
