A poorly written article with a more poorly written headline

2013-09-29 06:15:25 PM
What actually happened in English:

Miami's pitcher through 9 no hit innings.
In the bottom of the 9th, Miami scored the only run of the game on a wild pitch by Detroit.

The cool part is that it is the first no-hitter game that ended on a wild pitch.

And he was on the ummm. And he was on the on deck circle.

Thanks, I also had to read the article in order to understand. The head line was impossible. To read. Fark---because it was badly written!

Or, you know, you could, like, learn how to read.

Looks like the Tigers are already in their World Series mode.

Good on Alvarez.

No, I'm sure this won't be brought up a thousand times during Detroit's first game in the ALDS....

\btw, if the Rays pull it out, they don't play the Sox correct?
\\and if the Tribe does, I get to unplug the microphones at The Sports Hub and WEEI for all the tards that are going to go spastic over having to play Fran-Coma
\\\either way, I'm not going anywhere near those two channels anytime soon, and will probably have to mute the Sox games a few times

Perhaps you could develop a sense of proportion--did this news really merit the deconstruction into not only "fark", but "ultrafark" categories---and then, the next time that someone doesn't like your headline, you might be more justified when you point out that it is indeed nearly comprehensible.

If the mods didn't think the Marlins no-hitting Detroit and winning on a wild pitch merited ultrafark, they wouldn't have greened it.  So go cry some more.  And learn to read while you're at it.

You sound pretty bitter. You got a dopey headline greened. You have a great life ahead of you. It's others like me who have to live vicariously through our teams' upcoming postseason. Try to calm down and watch baseball.

This coming from the one complaining about Fark headlines.  Wow.  Try to calm down and enjoy the amusing news site.

FriarReb98: btw, if the Rays pull it out, they don't play the Sox correct?

No, they changed that rule a couple years ago.  Detroit will play at Oakland and the Sox will host the winner of the wild card game.

They eliminated the rule that the division series cannot contain two teams from the same division. Also it could end up that neither the rays nor Indians make the ALDS BTW. The Rangers play the Rays in a play in game tomorrow night, and whoever wins that plays in Cleveland for the wildcard

Wow subby, you failed hard.  Let's do it from scratch:

Not News: Pitcher throws a complete game shutout.
News: It's a no-hitter.
Fark: Because he plays for the Marlins, he has to sit in the dugout and watch his teammates make it official on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth.

2013-09-29 11:33:59 PM
Henderson Alvarez?! Of course it was.
/Bitter Jays fan

It was a fitting way to end a horrifically disappointing regular season for Jays fans -- watching Henderson Alvarez celebrate a no-hitter for Miami.

Alvarez has a no hitter. The Marlins have no hitters.

That was pretty much a metaphor for the whole season.  Proud I watched most Marlin games.  The kids have heart, they played their best.
