That game is going to be a massacre. There's no "if" there.

Gonna be interesting with both the Texas and USC jobs coming open.

That is why they probably pulled the trigger on Kiffen so early in the season.  By getting rid of someone who was going to be booted at the end of the season anyway, they now have first dibs on potential coaches out there.  If you wait at the end of the season, they would have to compete with Texas or other schools.  Better to lock up the talent now and then get them out there recruiting to try and salvage a recruiting class for next year.

I call dibs on "comforting" Layla Kiffen in this hour of need.

If the reports of how USC sacked Lane Kiffen, it ALMOST makes his a tragic figure... Almost, but not really.  The bad news is LK will probably get a TV gig so we all get to enjoy his charming personality on a weekly basis.

I might agree with you if Lane Kiffin hadn't snuck out of Tennessee in the middle of the night without even telling his players that he was leaving and then having his staff call them to get them to come to USC.  If anyone deserved getting kicked off of a bus, it was him.

And Stanford has enough money just lying around that they could run the entire university until 2050.

Seriously, everyone complains about all the Nike money funneled into the Oregon program, but the dollar value is a drop in the bucket in comparison to what some of these institutions have bankrolled just lying around.  You have the college football-fan equivalent of penis envy.

Oregon will be good for a few more years, and will likely ride the wave down into average just like almost every other football program in the country for the last forty years.  Get over it.

OU will hang at least half a hundred on that shiatty Greg Robinson defense. Next UT coach: Art Briles.

I've been saying that, and with the athletes that Texas can draw, that could be scary.

Oregon hasn't won a Rose Bowl since 1917. Nike money still hasn't changed that.

USC has 63 of 85 scholarships fully endowed (and the head coach's salary), so they don't have to worry about funding those each year, I expect in a few years the remaining 22 will be endowed as well.

/waiting for Texas to hook Kiffin.

Briles can flat out recruit. Texas would be scary good with him. I just hope their alumni and boosters look down on him for whatever snobby reason, and the admin decides not to hire him. I don't think Dodds is going to be AD much longer, either, so that also fogs things up a bit.

Orgeron was the primary culprit. Bastard should have joined Kiffin in being thrown under the team bus.

It's a reflex.  That's probably been his talking point since Oregon became somewhat relevant nationally and now he posts it automatically in any thread where someone might be praising Oregon, regardless of the fact that it's no longer true.

Well, he's under the long-term bus.  He should be gone as soon as they find a new head coach.

It was funny listening to ESPN still play the Colin Cowherd sound byte about Kiffin being unfairly despised by fans.
ESPN has pretty good college coverage, but the seem to be up the ass of the biggest school where there isn't an NFL franchise. Hmmmmm....

Here's the part that I can't figure out:

If Lane Kiffin is both the awful coach and horrible person that everyone (except maybe his mom) says he is, how the hell did he ever rise through the ranks of coaching the way he did? I can't find one good reason that he was able to jump from being an assistant at USC to head coach of the Raiders, and he seems to have cruised on the halo effect of having been an NFL head coach ever since.

No he says he's on from 10-1 each day, and he is, in fact, on the radio during those hours. Other than that....
