The pussification will continue until morale improves.

Just ban all religious symbols, guns included. Problem solved.

2013-09-29 12:10:03 PM
God only knows what would have happened if he'd posted a picture of it on Facebook.

Guns don't kill people, gun-shaped keychains do?

2013-09-29 12:43:07 PM
So how long until a student gets suspended for bringing a metal object (like, say, the keys to their home, or an allergy bracelet) to school on the grounds that guns are made of metal?

2013-09-29 12:47:07 PM
Good. One less gun nut that might end up slaughtering innocent school kids just because he has ego problems.

Nip 'em in the bud.

2013-09-29 12:59:21 PM
I'm all for taking away people's guns, but that's just farking ridiculous.

2013-09-29 01:44:33 PM
Authoritarians demanded "zero tolerance" policies, and now they're pissed off because the policies apply to their fetishes too?
Let me get my tiny violin.

2013-09-29 01:45:30 PM
If that were my kid I'd buy as many of those keychains as I could afford and dump them on the school grounds off hours.

Or one kid unfairly singled out and unduly punished far too harshly now has a gripe against the system he will carry with him for the next 2 years, 5 months and 14 days (2 hours and 12 minutes) till he snaps and goes on a killing spree?

You sure it wasn't a keychain shaped like Florida?

I'm going to have to re-do all the homework I'm going to miss for advanced math

No you don't.

So when he can't get into college because of this, loses all hope and decides to come back with the real thing, who do we blame?

2013-09-29 02:52:17 PM
Rules are rules, follow them or face the consequences. I'm sick of these whiny parents who cry that their snowflake broke the rules but don't deserve the punishment....

2013-09-29 02:53:16 PM
Before we jump to conclusions, we really need to know more information. For all we know one of those keys could have been to a gun safe.

2013-09-29 02:53:16 PM
He is an attention whore. Tough break kid. Next time don't bring something prohibited to school.

Stop defending a kid for breaking school rules. He deserves his punishment.

That being said, I probably would have just confiscated it.

2013-09-29 02:53:46 PM
Yeah, this is so much crap. Can we get rid of these laws already so that we can start enforcing these rules based on common sense instead of blindly doing whatever the sheet of paper tells you to do?

Him. People make their own choices.

You are the problem.

If you must take a gun to school, make it one of those Russian cellphone guns.

With any luck, you'll shoot your ear off. That'll teach you.

2013-09-29 02:59:53 PM
Good thing it wasn't a gun-shaped cookie! God knows those things are DANGEROUS! Then he should've been arrested!

2013-09-29 03:00:39 PM
Maybe he was just trying to educate people about guns .

Generation_D: Just ban all religious symbols, guns included. Problem solved.

Don't bans on things normally end up doing the opposite of the intended effect? (i.e., increased demand and resistance)

2013-09-29 03:01:14 PM
While the rule may be overly strict and stupid, the reference to 're-education camps' in the headline is turning the derp up to potato. Congrats, derpmitter.

Most of the children at this school probably have hands, which can make the shape of a gun, and when you add the "pew pew pew" sounds, someone could be "killed" for the time it takes to count to ten really fast.

/hands off policy too extreme?

Technically I'd say it was his parents.  Still, one half of a story and the school is prohibited from telling their side, so yeah.

Thunderpipes: You are the problem.

Aww, what's a matter, did he kill your buzz for the outrage du'jour of the Internet?

Mr. Holmes: Yeah, this is so much crap. Can we get rid of these laws already so that we can start enforcing these rules based on common sense the whims of school principals on any given day instead of blindly doing whatever the sheet of paper tells you to do following rules that were presented, discussed, debated and voted on by the democratically elected school board?

FTFY.

Don't you know that common sense died years ago? Oh and the mandatory minimum sentence for your insubordination is 10 years.

This sort of play was discouraged years ago.  Probably about the time we learned how to play "stink finger' instead.

I am unsurprised that someone who supports such brain-dead policies has no problem with stealing property from children.

I'm that dumbass that probably would be carrying on the Koran.  As a document, I'm sure it would prove a far more interesting alternative to Alvin and the Chipmunks "Chpwrecked!"

Pfft.

Children can't have property - they ARE property. Or at least chattel.

The fact is there are some pretty small functioning pistols. Educators have better things to do than debate snowflakes and helicopters about their toys on a case by case basis.

But the gun chumps are biting yet again.

I say we cut the amount of administrators at schools and reduce the pay to minimum wage. There is zero thought and effort involved. If you don't need and wisdom or experience to fill the zero tolerance position why should you get paid like you are bringing something to the table?

It's a god-awful stupid rule, but he did break it, so...

...confiscate said keychain and make him pick up trash in the yard during lunch for one day.

Was that so hard? It's what I had to do when I messed with the school's computers back in the 80s..

/so worth it.

They generally have duties other than inspecting children's toys which is why they don't need to be wasting time on crap like this.

My thinking is that people should just start suing these bureaucrats, personally, not the school district or the state. Sue THEM and make them spend some money and risk their assets, put leans on their property. See if that type of action curbs some of this pervasive asshattery.

Guns and Schools are a big "no no".  The Kids a moron.

Any links to what the "rules" are?

seriously? America, your love/fear relationship with guns is mental, get a farking grip

/if I were the principal, I would have brought the student and patent together and talked it over, no bullshiat suspension, just trying to get both parties on the same page
//seriously, gun nuts of both ends are loco

Especially if the allergy bracelet has a cross on it, penalties doubled.

How long will it be until a kid gets suspended for pointing his index and thumb at someone and saying "Bang!"?

Index FINGER. Dammit.
