Oh I can still remember
Jenny Hernando
She was my little lovely one
When I was seventeen.
I remember the day that she
Gave me her viriginity
And then she gave it to everyone
In our vicinity.

Oh I can still remember
Julie Tolentino
The dancing Filipino
We used to run around.
Her and Flouncin' Freddy
Were going hot and steady.
Now she runs a dyke bar,
The biggest one in town.

I can still remember my
Old friend Todd Squelati
I watching him snort a
Milkshake right up his nose.
He slurped it up the left side.
Blew it out the right side.
How he ever kept it down,
I will never know.

Of course I still remember
Ol Flouncin' Freddy
We were pumping gas
Down at El Sobrante Shell
His Mustang was his pride n' joy
He liked to dance the cowboy,
Hanging out at Jack In the Box
But eat at Taco Bell.

Much better song. Tales From the Punch Bowl was an awesome album. And it sounds great played through the surround sound system in my Volvo.

Oh. And my name is Mud.

Who gives a shiat?

And subs, why the hell would you pick their WORST goddamn song? Anything off of Frizzle Fry or Sailing the Seas of Cheese would've been a better choice. ANYTHING.

A much, MUCH better option:

I saw them in concert last year, they were amazing, but old Les looks like he's getting a touch of the arthritis, so I don't really expect them to be around too much longer, but who knows.

ertznay: Primus is Heavy Metal?

Primus has never really fit neatly into any genre but their early stuff tends to be pretty heavy and is usually lumped into the alternative metal scene of the late 80's/early 90's

Examples:

Too Many Puppies

The Toys Go Winding Down

Is It Luck?

Primus was good when it wasn't "Les Claypool's Cavalcade of Attention Whoring and Stupid Bass Tricks". Larry LaLonde and Herb Alexander held their own against the whirlpool of ego and made it better.

Claypool's a fine player, but he has no boundaries between "interesting style" and "annoying schtick".

Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains (essentially Praxis with Les Claypool on bass instead of Laswell/Bootsy) is probably the closest thing to early Primus that he's done.

I also liked Buckethead's "Monsters and Robots", which has both Bootsy (PBUH) and Claypool on it. And "Oysterhead" was surprisingly awesome, even with Claypool and Anastasio's egos to deal with.

"Green Naugahyde" was a good album; I really enjoyed Jay Lane's drumming on it.  But, seeing as Lane went back to Bob Weir's Ratdog, I'm really excited about Tim Alexander being back in Primus!

The "Smack My biatch Up/Sexx Laws" mashup rules. Turn up the bass. It's an orgy for yer ears.

I saw Primus live once. They stopped in the middle of Fish On because Claypool "didn't feel like playing it anymore." Lame. Boring show.

I still like the Sea of Cheese album.

I could never really get into Primus. I have Pork Soda and it is ok, but they were always too much into being weird for weird's sake.   Saw them open for Rush back in 94 or 95 I think on the Counterparts tour.   Didn't translate to the arena very well, probably would be great in a small club.

Saw them the same tour. It was a bad scene. All the old hippy Rush fans didn't know what to do with Primus, and so left the arena. Young Rush fans like me really wanted to see Primus, but it was obvious Primus was in a bad mood. Primus ended up jacking up their sound to be even more obnoxious, but they were playing to mostly empty seats, and so everything started echoing. Not good, not good at all.

As a bassist I enjoy Primus but not really for shmhc. Been enjoying the new Ruins of Beverast vinyl and I am looking forward to Fragile Branch recordings release of Wanderlust's LP. No links due to being on the iPad.

Got the CD/t-shirt preorder. God DAMN is that album good... it's like what I always wanted from Opeth, but they always got distracted in the middle of shiat with their two-hour hippie interludes.

I really don't understand what's going on. First it's like a month without SHMHC, then it's back, but only with decidedly not SHMHC material. Whitesnake? Jesus.

Anyway, Primus? Sucks. Course they can do heavy when they wanna. Didn't know there was so much Wynona hate though.

As an old metal head, I have no problem with Primus here. Didn't you idiots Rush into here not long ago? Rush is about as metal as Miley Cyrus, FFS....and if Tommy the Cat isn't metal, I don't know what is.

Throw me in the pit and Give me Tommy the Cat or Blue Collar Tweekers and that's all you need to know about Primus...OR metal.

Wynona's Big Brown Beaver isn't their worst song, but it isn't their best either. I rank it pretty high though... it just got a lot of rotation when it came out, which is bound to turn off us fans of a fairly niche band like that. But even a bad Primus song is better than most other bands can muster as their best.

I'm not sure I could pick an absolute "best", since they have so many great ones... But Southbound Pachyderm is pretty close to it IMHO. It even has neat video.
I've been lucky enough to see them play live numerous times... Even saw when Les toured as "Sausage" with the Rollins Band, way back in the day. I REALLY wish he'd recorded more albums with the Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains group. That one album is farking awesome. Here's a great (also elephant themed...) song from that one - Elephant Ghost. Damn shame they never recorded another album.
