Is Chi-Chi's the mexican version of Hooters?

2004-01-16 11:48:47 AM
somewhere where mexicans escape their "casos de Lunes"

casos=case
lunes=mondays

yup.

2004-01-16 11:50:17 AM
Ugh. Chi-Chis is to Mexican food what Olive Garden is to Italian food. A bastardization of the original with a media campaign advertising it as authentic. Argh.

Their fried ice cream is good though. Not Mexican in any way, shape, or form. But good.

Um, hep A is the one you get from consuming fecal matter, right?

2004-01-16 12:07:37 PM
Chi-Chi's is about as Mexican as is an Chevy truck.

"''There cannot be a safer place to eat right now. I'm sure you could drag your tongue across the floor, it's so clean,'' said Freda Gennaro, a 59-year-old medical sales representative as she sipped on a berry margarita with her husband Lou, 66."

Well, at least you won't get hepatitis from licking the floor, so I'd take that chance instead of the food.

Stupid woman. Maybe me and her should meet up, because by coincidence, the name for my peener is "Floor" ...

2004-01-16 12:09:26 PM
Wait, the onions are green? Why would you eat green onions? I have never heard of that.

2004-01-16 12:09:39 PM
what, no comments about "Beaver Valley Mall"? c'mon, people. you're not even trying today.

let's hear it for my hometown! you can't keep out of work, overweight, hungry people down! and darn it, when our restaurants are challenged, we RALLY! can i get a "whoa bundy"?

on the serious front, my wife works at that mall, and she commented on the line forming as she walked into work at 3 pm yesterday. personally, i'd eat there. it's probably spotless...nowhere safer in the tri-state area to eat. my wife, however, won't be eating at a chi-chi's until well into the advanced stages of altzheimers'.

Great headline... here is a cookie

2004-01-16 12:11:22 PM
Hepatitipeo looks suscpiciously like Hepatitis.

2004-01-16 12:11:51 PM
Last I checked you can get hep A from anything.

Green onions are those little itty bitty green things on yer food that nobody is using any more. But they tasted sooo good...

2004-01-16 12:11:56 PM
Chi chi's = boobies in Spanish

2004-01-16 12:14:30 PM

The restaurant that I help run (totally unrelated to Chi Chi's) stopped using scallions (green onions) after this scare, too. We switched to chives. The FDA says that scallions are okay now, though, so we switched back to scallions about a week ago. What supposedly happened with this is that the scallions that most restaurants and grocery stores buy are grown in Mexico... where sewage and septic systems aren't the best or sometimes non-existent.

2004-01-16 12:25:02 PM
'chi chi's, for when you're feeling (up) a little mexican'

so how did the green onions bring the H to the party? contaminated by the pickers?

2004-01-16 12:25:11 PM
Mmmmmm... infectious.

2004-01-16 12:25:48 PM
yes, beaver valley mall. i guess that's in beaver county. you can go see penn state play football in beaver stadium. then go home to your place in blue ball, intercourse, or mount joy.

I haven't been able to eat at any "mexican" restaurant since a trip to Chili's in January 2003. I evidently forgot to specify that I wanted my chicken tacos without the Norwalk Virus. That oversight put me in the hospital for two days.

2004-01-16 12:27:49 PM
Hell, heap that Norwalk on! I'm hungry for some spicy virus!

2004-01-16 12:28:20 PM
from the CDC:

HAV is usually spread from person to person by putting something in the mouth (even though it may look clean) that has been contaminated with the stool of a person with hepatitis A.
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/hepatitis/a/fact.htm

So eat up, Pennsylvanians! I hear there's a special on extreme fajitas... though you don't want to know why they're "extreme"

About 25 people got food poisoning from eating at a SATCO here in Nashville a few years ago. One of them was my friend's biatch-from-hell ex-wife, so it was worth it. Screw those other people!

Hepititus tastes so damn good when it's fried.

Don't get your chain-store restaurants mixed up.

Darden Restaurants
Red Lobster
Olive Garden
Bahama Breeze
Smokey Bones

Prandium Restaurants
Koo-Koo-Roo (chicken restaurant chain in Ca.)
Chi-Chis' Mexican Restaurants
Hamburger Hamlet

Darden used to be owned by General Mills.

Prandium is crawling out of a gigantic bankruptcy and a delisting from NASDAQ.

Remember: detergent costs MONEY.

So nothing has really changed, right?

2004-01-16 12:33:32 PM
I agree that Chi-Chi's suck, and I agree their fried ice cream is really good.

I have yet to find a REAL Mexican restaurant. Those that claim they are Mexican are really tex-mex.

Fact: vegetables and produce are often picked by migrant workers.

Fact: Most migrant farms do not provide porto-johns for their laborors

Fact: studies have shown that most of the time when nature calls, workers are forced to squat and do their business out there in the fields - on your frickin' lettuce.

Fact: Always wash your farking vegetables.

I find "real" Mexican food ( actually in Mexico) to be rather disgusting. Poor quality meats, horrible cheese and tough rotten chicken.

Beans are good though.

Chi-Chi's is to Mexican food what Arby's is to Mexican food

Those that claim they are Mexican are really tex-mex.

Big deal. Hep A is weak. You get it, you may get sick, it passes and then you can never get it again. Also, there are no long-term side-effects.

2004-01-16 12:46:02 PM
mikesum:

I love your granny too.
