This is the episode that knocks?

I don't even know what to predict for this last episode. I'm pretty sure Walt isn't walking out of this. Jesse might. The Nazis probably won't. I doubt that Lydia is going to as well. Skyler and Marie and the kids I'm pretty sure will live. Skyler might be going to jail, though. Saul's out of the picture, as are Saul's henchmen. I'm really curious to see what's going to happen with Grey Matter.

I don't think there will be a direct confrontation with Grey Matter, because Walt knows he has little time and he has more important things to do.  I think that was pretty much just the catalyst to make him change his mind about giving up and turning himself in.

He knows his former colleagues got to write the final chapter on Grey Matter.

He's not going to let someone else write the final chapter on Walt/Heisenberg.

In my mind, Todd is going to make a pass at Lydia, which she will spurn. And then later he will kill her at a moment when she feels like he's on her side.

Todd is kind of a wild card.  He lacks brains and is wildly unpredictable, but people keep him around because he'll do any dirty work thrown his way. For some reason, they sort of trust him.  Him killing Lydia is not out of the question.  Him killing everyone is not out of the question.

I'm expecting the family to be dead, Walt to kill the Nazis, and Jesse to die because of Walt's assault on their compound, but not directly by Walt's hands.   Walt ends up in prison, alone.  It's bleak and dark, and I kind of feel bad writing it, but I'm really not sure how else you end a show about a cancer-ridden meth kingpin.

And of course, there's always the Walt becomes a lumberjack option, but the show seems to have squandered that opportunity thus far.

I think Jesse will use Walt's poison gas technique on some or all of his captors.  (Remember Jack doesn't like to use the respirator?)  Then he will be armed and dangerous.  He might just kill Lydia to get back at Todd.

Jesse will blow up the lab with a lit (non-ricin) cigarette.

He's a socialize sociopath. He doesn't actually feel anything for anyone. But he has social routines down pat. He's polite, he dresses to impress others, and knows what other people like. He just has no empathy whatsoever and will hurt another as if they were a bug.

I expect Todd will not have a nice ending.

I don't have any predictions about the ending, other than this- No matter who lives, who dies, who wins, who loses, at the end of it all there will be people biatching here and across the internets about it. And to all of them I say- GET OVER IT. It's been a stunning show, the best on TV, and we should all applaud that.

I really don't expect them to suddenly drop the ball on this.  My boyfriend, after convincing  me the mom's name on "Malcolm in the Middle" was honestly "Felina" (he can be an asshole and I can be naive) asked me what the deal is with the show and I said "it's all out of order, but we know this much, and they have never dropped anything despite telling it out of order." So I don't see how they would screw up the ending. they've always known how it would end, unlike say, Dexter, where they just careened into some crazy ending they claimed after the fact was always the intent.

Not only that, but we know that they've had this in mind for at least a year and a half based on when they would've filmed the first season five flashforward. I have faith in VG.

All Whites live; Walt rides off into the sunset to die.
Marie lives, even more of a broken wreck than she already was.
All nazis die.
Lydia ends up in prison.
Saul's whereabouts unknown, possibly at the Cinnabon in Omaha.
Elliott and Gretchen get farked over very badly but in some probably clever and certainly nonviolent way.
Huell... I'd really like for him to end up with all the money, but I'm predicting we don't hear anything more about him.

Jesse... There's the wild card. I'm not even willing to guess.

I think that's going to be the bookend to "jumping the shark". When a show that has jumped the shark ends in a hot mess it can be said the main character "became a lumberjack".

hah, I said that to someone last week - that the greatest achievement of the show was changing the popular vernacular regarding sucky endings. I called it "invoking the lumberjack clause."

It's unfortunate that really bad CGI storms aren't getting the credit they deserve, as they played no small part in wrecking the legacy of "Dexter."

As a side note, my favorite defense of the ending was "you're stupid, he was obviously driving a logging truck".  As if that is somehow an improvement.

I'm 99% sure that they said from the beginning they knew exactly how it would unfold and end.  I also believe "Sons of Anarchy" came to the table with a predetermined beginning, middle, and end, though that show has meandered quite a bit at times and they may have added things along the way to stretch it out because it was so successful. I could be wrong on that, though.

I'm going off the wall for predictions today.  There's gotta be a reason Marie brought up the untraceable poisons; I'm thinking, Walt goes to Marie to ask for forgiveness/atone and gives Marie the ricin, then asks Marie to put it in some coffee to finally end him, she feels vindicated that he's dead, by her hand, and can't be found out by anyone.  Then the doctor spills about their conversation and Marie gets arrested.

this is like waiting for something really good that you are going to hate having it end

useless predictions:

1 - re-watched "Granite State" - no way Grey Matter doesn't play a role - my guess the Ricin goes there
2 - Marie winds up with Junior and the baby - she gets them as her family the way she has wanted for so long
3 - Skylar - rough call - no idea
4 - Jesse takes out the Nazis in a chemical-based revenge that kills him too
5 - Todd kills Lydia -
6 - Skinny Pete gets a free ride to Julliard - Badger crashes on his dorm couch until he is hired as a sci-fi channel consultant - the end up in a NY loft full of toys and pianos ala' Tom Hanks in "Big"
7 - Walter White? I suspect he dies
8 - Brock is adopted by a nice upper-middle class family and goes on to become Attorney General on an anti-drug platform - but only after marrying a lovely girl whose bridal bouquet includes the very traditional Lily of the Valley blossoms.

y'all have fun

1. I think it's going to be more face-to-face.
2. Maybe, just maybe, because...
3. Skylar gets locked up, but WW uses the M60 in a stunning jailbreak which ends with him dead and skylar critically wounded as the credits roll.
4. I'm so, SO with you on this one. And it's going to be some messy, eyeball-dissolving horrible death.
5. I think Lydia kills Todd, but is then killed by a booby-trap set by Uncle Nazi without Todd's knowledge.
6. Ditto, with Huell as their financial advisor.
7. Hard to argue. But I think they can't kill him till the last act - but how the hell does he interact with *anyone* for 40 minutes without someone dying?

I still keep thinking that the final shot will be him somehow alive, possibly even with his cancer in remission, aware that he destroyed everything and everyone he ever loved, and for nothing because even the cancer didn't kill him as he expected. Perhaps with the ricin still in his hand and it being left up to us as to whether or not he takes it.

2013-09-29 01:59:09 PM
Ah, I forgot about the ricin in my predictions posted up above.

I'm going to say that Walt somehow manages to give Marie the ricin, fearing that otherwise she would end up with Holly because Skyler ends up in prison or, if not, has the kids taken away because she's deemed an unfit parent.

Oh, and Drew Sharp's parents take both Brock and Lydia's daughter in.

Well, not really, but that's how I'd write it. But then again, I guess that's why I'm not writing it.

I'm sure most have seen this already, but it's an interesting connection all the same. "Felina" is the name of the finale, which is an anagram for "Finale." It's also the name of the girl sung about in the old country western ballad "El Paso," and the lyrics do a nice job of describing what's been happening in Breaking Bad. Here's an explanation, along with some other theories about "Felina." And here are the El Paso lyrics - sorry for the long post:

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso
I fell in love with a Mexican girl.
Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina;
Music would play and Felina would whirl.

Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina,
Wicked and evil while casting a spell.
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden;
I was in love but in vain, I could tell.

One night a wild young cowboy came in,
Wild as the West Texas wind.
Dashing and daring,
A drink he was sharing
With wicked Felina,
The girl that I loved.

So in anger I

Challenged his right for the love of this maiden.
Down went his hand for the gun that he wore.
My challenge was answered in less than a heart-beat;
The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor.

Just for a moment I stood there in silence,
Shocked by the FOUL EVIL deed I had done.
Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there;
I had but one chance and that was to run.

Out through the back door of Rosa's I ran,
Out where the horses were tied.
I caught a good one.
It looked like it could run.
Up on its back
And away I did ride,

Just as fast as I

Could from the West Texas town of El Paso
Out to the bad-lands of New Mexico.

Back in El Paso my life would be worthless.
Everything's gone in life; nothing is left.
It's been so long since I've seen the young maiden
My love is stronger than my fear of death.

I saddled up and away I did go,
Riding alone in the dark.
Maybe tomorrow
A bullet may find me.
Tonight nothing's worse than this
Pain in my heart.

And at last here I

Am on the hill overlooking El Paso;
I can see Rosa's cantina below.
My love is strong and it pushes me onward.
Down off the hill to Felina I go.

Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys;
Off to my left ride a dozen or more.
Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me.
I have to make it to Rosa's back door.

Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel
A deep burning pain in my side.
Though I am trying
To stay in the saddle,
I'm getting weary,
Unable to ride.

But my love for

Felina is strong and I rise where I've fallen,
Though I am weary I can't stop to rest.
I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle.
I feel the bullet go deep in my chest.

From out of nowhere Felina has found me,
Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side.
Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for,
One little kiss and Felina, good-bye.

Why is AMC airing clips of the last few episodes during commercials? Don't they know people are catching up? As soon as the last season began airing during the marathon, they should have stopped airing that ad during commercials. Idiots.
