Well, if  you really want the guys to go, you need a lot more tits and explosions.

Well, you only really need the tits... explosions are just a nice bonus.

Good. Bridesmaids and The Heat are two of the funniest movies I've ever seen in my life. Seriously haven't laughed that hard since seeing Police Squad/Naked Gun movies for the first time. I'm a married 32 year old male.

Good comedy is good comedy, I don't care who the intended demographic is.

We can only hope that Hollywood "gives up" entirely.

So Paul Rudd killed an entire Genre. Well rip my lips off and call me surprised.

My favorite little bit in Bridesmaids is Jihn Hamm's "Hey, farkbuddy" scene.

They did that years ago. If they gave the tiniest damn whatsoever, they wouldn't keep cutting checks for Friedburg/Seltzer productions.

Bring back R-rated action movies while you're at it. Dredd was alright. Keep doing that.

This Is The End and We're The Millers are the funniest movies I've seen all year, and I've heard nothing but good things about JGL's Don Jon.

Many women like to swear, get drunk, and talk about farking- just as many men do. This should come as no surprise- we're all human.

Three of the top five most profitable movies of all time are romantic comedies, and a fourth is largely a romance movie though not a comedy (Slumdog Millionaire).

Unfortunately, Hollywood's risk-averse nature means that only stars with guaranteed drawing power will be cast in these raunchy R-ratec comedies, thus guaranteeing us at least two more decades of films staring Kirstin Wiig and Melissa McCarthy.

(Not that I dislike either lady, mind you.  They're both comic geniuses.  But it might be nice to give a new newcomers a chance too.)

...they are both still relative newcomers.

Of course, if they decided to lay off the rom-com for a while and instead started putting out some shoujo-ai...

God, this can only mean more Seth Rogen/Jonah Hill abominations.

Well, if you keep casting chicks like:

Katherine Heigl

...in a "these chicks have sex" type of movie, then yes, boyfriends being dragged by their girlfriends into a chick flick would actually say "Well, hmmm... I'm okay with this."

The problem with romantic comedies is that the comedy is largely men getting kicked in the balls.

Lots of romantic bits that were crafted with care, but the comedy bits are phoned in by a writer who clearly doesn't want to write comedy.

Apparently Katherine Heigl is damaged goods in Hollywood. Apparently she is a total pain to work with, and she's not enough of a box office draw to put up with her shenanigans when Scarlet Johansson is available for low-budget comedies like Don Jon.

Well, that and her last "bounty hunter" movie totally sucked.

I'm sure Scarlet is a bit of a choosy type, though.  She doesn't strike me as the kind of actress that is going to say yes to every part.  Don Jon had JGL writing and starring in the movie, so it was a bit more unusual than your typical rom-com drivel.

Didn't they do this back in the 90s?

Conundrum, outside of Kate Winslet, how many major female stars will regularly get naked?

Um... I know Don Jon was  marketed as a lighthearted, raunchy comedy, but the actual movie was a pretty black comedy.  Those have been fairly popular for a while.

Since late 2008 I would guess.
