loved The Three Stooges as a child, hated them as a teenager, now that I'm in my forties I think they are funnier than ever.

Which is better? Finding a long-lost original Stooges short, or permanently losing all the shorts with Curly Joe Besser?

I started showing my boys The Three Stooges last year. Nothing better than leaving the room and hearing him giggling or laughing out loud at what he's watching.

Wow, a nitrate print too

I hope this makes its way online somehow (even for a few bucks on Amazon/iTunes).  I don't want it to be relegated to just the occasional festival showing.

Curly was great - especially the pre-stroke shorts.  Shemp was cool.  But Joe Besser and Curly-Joe were very pale imitations and just not funny.

Exactly.  Curly and Shemp were different enough that it wasn't like Shemp was trying to just flat-out copy Curly when he re-joined the group.  They both gave an entertaining performance.  Joe Besser and Curly-Joe just came across as pale imitations of Curly.  I really can't stand their shorts.

I love the DVD sets that have all the shorts in chronological order, especially since it meant I could get all the shorts I wanted to see and stop before Curly-Joe and Besser stepped in.

I like Curly, but you know, as you get older you really appreciate Shemp's comedic chops. I think I prefer Shemp now.

But yeah... Nobody prefer Joe Besser or Curly-Joe.

I'm the same way.  I used to be all about Curly when I was young.  As I got older, I really appreciated Shemp's performances a lot more. I easily prefer him to Curly now.  Although more of my favorite shorts do feature Curly, just because that was the era when they were produced.

A Stooge fan after my own heart.. I like it that Shemp can act a little better than Curly. His scenes with
Moe in the phone booth trying to call women to marry and get his inheritance,is, for me, right up there with
infamous (and probably one of my favorite all time comedy scenes) "stateroom scene" in A Night At The Opera.

I don't dislike Joe Besser. He's no Curley, and he's no Shemp. But he's ok..I really wish they hadn't gone
back and re-made some of their older shorts with him taking the place of Curly. That just made him
look bad.

Curly Joe at least tried being a Stooge. Joe Besser just wanted to be Joe Besser with Moe and Larry.

And yeah, I'll always love the Curly shorts, but Shemp was the original with his own style. Little "Why Not Both?" Girl is right.

/and Christine McIntyre FTW!

Larry: "Hello?"........"You don't say.".........."You don't say!"..........."You don't SAY!!"

Moe: "Who was that?"

Larry: "He didn't say."

*SLAP*

/my favorite Larry piece.
