A ten-minute video that doesn't feature the actual subject of the video for the first four minutes. instead subjecting us to some dork and Ricardo Montalban.

Good thing we have the option of skipping ahead.

From her web site:

Allison Dufty is an award-winning writer, producer and voiceover artist AND is absolutely, positively NOT the voice of Siri, a case of mistaken identity that has by now gone around the world of the internet and back again-and yet is still wrong!

To be fair to subby, the headline only asked a question. It didn't suggest that TFA would answer it.

I hate Siri with every ounce of my being, and if this biatch is in any way part of my miserable experience with this garbage voice non-recognition software, then I hate her too!

That was one of my favorite bits from the Andromeda Strain.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the voice didn't come from a female, but it actually came from a man, just put through a computer and modified a whole lot.

She looks like a bunch of oscilloscope traces?

I thought it was interesting.

I'm a musician, though, and sound fascinates me. I love anything dealing with voice actors.

Thanks for the link, subster.

Or even ILFable? I don't care if she has kids.

Do I have to go thru a 10 minutes video to see a pic? No, I'd rather use GIS

The woman in the video is a bit past MILF age, but she's also the kind of person who's far above that. She was probably a hottie when she was younger, she's still attractive now, and she'll even be an adorable cutie when she gets older. And I get the vibe that that's just scratching the surface. You could do alot worse than to grow old alongside a woman like that.

Just sayin'.

UK Siri is a man.  And he doesn't understand Scottish accents.

I do. I use it almost every day during my commute. I can send messages, have them read to me, dictate notes, and set my calendar for the next day, all without taking my eyes off the road. I'm fairly certain that's the smartest thing ever.

fake.  I could see the pixels along her jawline at 3:56.

I use it to set alarms and do quick Internet searches. It's great for those things. I've used it to get directions a few times, too.

I once met a lady by the name of Susan Bayer. She was the voice for various intercept recordings for Southwestern Bell. She gave me a demonstration of the Vacant Code intercept recording. "I'm sorry, but the number you have dialed is no longer in service..."

That was kind of creepy. But someone had to record it.

I worked for a company a few years ago that installed a new phone system at head office and picked a woman who worked there to record all the messages for the voicemail, "Press one for..." stuff etc. It was always weird when you called her because when she answered the phone you thought it was still the system.

I know how that goes. Whenever I call James Earl Jones, I think his number's been disconnected.

[i90.photobucket.com image 596x380]

Way back a million years ago when the iPhone 4S came out, I just HAD to pay $100 or whatever extra for that one over the iPhone 4 because I thought it would be so cool to have Siri.  I used Siri about twice.  Not that I found its functionality unsatisfactory, I just felt so douchey when I used it.

So, yes, Siri is the stupidest thing ever.  What is cool technology really worth if you look/feel like a douche when you use it?  See also: Bluetooth earpieces (circa 2005), people who take photos in public using their iPads (sadly continues to present day).

/not an Apple fangirl
//still have my 4S, intend to use it until it dies regardless of available upgrades
///then when it goes kaput, replace it with a Jitterbug like my grandma's
