Usually it's in the vicinity of license plates, or other identifying marks.

I think that depends on how strict you want to be. There are different series of "sights of the world" pictures that weren't made by the usual camera car driving down the road but are still in the Google system.

Very interesting "article" subby thanks for sharing.  I found that I could not turn away until the end.

Does seem if Google wants to do a public service, they could at least post the location of the hooker pics.... Of course so us fine upstanding citizens don't accidentally wonder into the wrong neighborhood.. How awkward would it be if you were just out for a drive, make wrong turn and before you know it one of these ladies invites herself into your car???

And by the look of some of them, if the above were to happen, you would definitely be replacing some of the shocks on your car...

Streetview includes "User photos", which can be linked to locations.  I suspect some of those impossible pics are user photos.

There are also Streetview Trikes which can be used to obtain images from places inaccessible by car.

Put "Jigokudani Monkey Park" into Google maps and go to street view and you can walk around the park and look at the snow monkeys.

The statue "Tonnerre de Zeus" at Parc Asterix in northern France.  (Not sure how this could be GSV; you have to pay to get in, and no vehicles.)  Interesting side note: If you look upskirt you can see that Zeus is wearing pretty patterned panties.

What idiot makes a page about awesome google street view images, (which, just to make sure everyone is on the same page, is a mapping service to help you find specific locations) and doesn't include location information?   Talk about a let down...

Sure, these images have value, but you can't call it "streetview" anymore if they aren't taken from the street. It takes some of the magic of the randomness away when you add images to the system that were taken with a specific intent.

Google makes money from Google ads.

1) Keeping you on Google sites increases the chances you click on paid Google ads link

2) Google records your clicks, gaining valuable consumer behaviour info.
