Impressive how no one else stopped to help them. That's good discipline.

And the music is perfect.

Pretty good marching band, btw.  I didn't know HS marching band was as much of a thing anymore.

I had a few things like that happened when I was in band playing trombone. Falling or running into something or someone bumping into you while you're playing a brass instrument is like getting hit in the mouth with a hammer.

Fist bump back.

Amazingly, some footage made it to Youtube.  Here's my solo in '82...

I'd encourage you to roll it back to the beginning, too.  We always had custom scores written and some of those lines or whatever you call it for formations were off-the-hook.

We worked hard.

/80's cool

As a former tuba/sousaphone player, I'm laughing and saying OUCH at the same time.

I've never lipped a tuba before, but as a blindfolded hammer juggler i feel your pain.

I went to a high school (class of '03) where the marching band had more trophies, and was in better shape, than the football team and basketball team combined. They were basically jocks with musical instruments, and they acted like it too.

My HS was like that.  They scheduled all the other extracurriculars around the band, because we were almost 20% of the school, and 60% of the honor roll.

Former tuba player here and I laughed so hard I pulled some rib muscles LOL.  I slipped once on a muddy field and tripped over a shoe that got sucked off in that same muddy field but I never went down.  Damn that was funny!  Thanks subby!!

Trumpet player here...never bit it that badly. I'm both chuckling and feeling quite sympathetic.

I was in the marching band  back in the day.  Our band wasn't awesome but at least we played relatively current music.  Rock, pop, etc.  My son's high school band (he was not in it so I can speak freely) won competitions but they played boring classical music.  Sure they played it very well and their marching and formations were intricate and well done, but come on, I'm there to watch a football game and come halftime I want to take a nap.  It would be like the cheerleaders reading poetry instead of yelling "Go team"

Lawrence North HS in Indpls.  They still have the same band director today, too, but the program is a mere shell of its former self.

MD '97.

Husband was Castle '89. Jerry Reese!

My aunt played clarinet in Castle's band in the mid 70s, graduated in 79, I think. She and Listenfelt didn't get along.

If you have seven or more tuba players, don't make them march backwards. You can't march backwards with sufficient precision while a heavy, expensive, nickel-plated sousaphone is balanced on your shoulder like that.

Lots of dents to hammer out of a lot of tubas. It makes me sad...
