This happens quite often actually. A few wealthy members will buy the club under a new corporation now with a much smaller mortgage.

This would make a fantastic recreation center. The city could buy it and open it to the public.

Not with Czervik's condos going in next door and displacing all the local fauna.

Czervik?  I'll slap an injunction on him so fast his head will spin.  And you....you just do something about those gophers or I'll be getting a new greens keeper!

Somewhere around 17,600 courses in the US, 2300 in Canada...for a dwindling number of golfers....too many courses. Seeing it here... not just resort courses going tits up but country clubs as well....

Another local news website that doesn't give people a clue where they are local to. Where is this club?

It's in West Caln, in Chester County. Says so right in the article

/I know what you mean

I had to google West Caln just to be sure that it wasn't a typo. They need to buy a vowel from Vanna or something.

/or some rich dude should buy it, take it private, and kick everyone else out

It's in Coatesville, which isn't exactly a top ten neighborhood for the wealthy.

/It was a steel town
//Chester County is a really farked up mix of rich and poor.

Since the population of Canada is about 11% of the population of the US, if we can assume that an equal proportion of both populations play golf, then either Canada has about 400 too many courses, or the US has 3300 too few.
