They're already killing off another character 3 or 4 years after they killed off Maude Flanders?  It's funny how the show has changed in the 8 or 9 years that I'm sure it's been on the air. You know, I bet that some kids that weren't even born yet when The Simpsons first appeared on TV are going to be in middle school soon.

Since the article says the character is played by an Emmy winner, that means it's not played by Harry Shearer (non-winner).  Which means the character is none of the following.

C. Montgomery Burns
Waylon Smithers
Ned Flanders
Principal Skinner
Reverend Lovejoy
Dr. Julius Hibbert
Kent Brockman
Scratchy
Otto
Jasper
Lenny
Edde Rainier
Wolfcastle/McBain
Kang
Herman
George Bush
Judge Snyder

What's the point of killing a character fifteen years after they killed the show?

2013-09-28 09:40:50 AM
Mr Prediction: Its gonna be Grandpa Simpson. If not, then the very last Simpsons episode to be made will have him die in that

2013-09-28 09:43:27 AM
It's going to be Bart.  They're going to finally air that lost episode.

2013-09-28 11:48:13 AM
They're still making the Simpsons? I thought that show was done years ago.

I didn't know those were all played by the same guy.  I'm also surprised he's the sole non-emmy winner amongst the cast, some of those are amongst the best characters.

I know the whole "Simpsons hasn't been funny in 20 years" thing has become an Internet cliche, but, god damn, watching that show is painful now.

My guess: Sideshow Bob.

I admit I'll be looking forward to the Futurama crossover episode.  Futurama was far superior to The Simpsons.

Or go the other route, and have Maggie face all these ridiculous threats (Dingos, large objects falling and just missing her, and other wacky but lethal forms of death) only to succumb to something simple, like choking on a toy part.

Family Guy is already killing someone off (supposedly a Griffin), do we really need more of this crap?

2013-09-28 03:57:28 PM
Comic Book Guy, aka Jeffery Albertson. Bart enters comic book shop and instead of getting sneered at CBG slowly falls over dead, freaking out Bart and that blue haired sidekick. Then we have Bart get worried about Homer and Marge trying to get him to not worry so much, and apart from no more CBG the show ends on book.

I heard a rumour South Park may try to kill off Kenny. No idea if it's legit though.

2013-09-28 04:10:56 PM
People who they won't kill:

The Simpson family
Ned and the Flander kids
Edna
Principal Seymore and his mother
Lenny and Carl
Mr. Burns
Chief Wiggim and Ralph
Jasper
Marge's sisters
The actor who does the McBain movies
Apu and his family
Moe

Leaving:
Milhouse
Smithers
Barney
Milhouse's family (though they were already assumed dead once, so unlikely)
The bullies
Martin (already assumed dead once already, so unlikely)
the twin girls
Otto
Nelson

There are other characters, but Sideshow Bob won't be killed off, Bumblebee Man is too distant to really effect the Simpsons, same with The Mayor, so really, those in the 'leaving' list are the only ones I can think of who could die and effect the show and the family.

I remembers when the Simpsons went to shiat. It was around the episode of 'Barts Tea Party With Mommy'.
the episode was so retarded that Bart even had to wear a helmet while riding his bicycle.

I love the Simpsons, but only reason why I stopped watching it years ago is because it's not on Hulu on my iPad. If there's any other way that I could still stream it for free on the iPad, I'd still watch it religiously. Too bad, that's lost ad revenue right there.

Everything up to season 10 was fantastic.

Seasons 11 and 12 had some pretty fun episodes (eg. Behind the Laughter, Missionary Impossible, Simpson Safari, New Kids on the Blech, The Computer Wore Menace Shoes) but a lot of medicore to outright bad ones as well (eg. Homer vs. Dignity, Day of the Jackanapes, Insane Clown Poppy, Trilogy of Error, Eight Misbehavin, Bart to the Future, Alone Again, Natura-Diddily)

From season 13 and onwards, you'd be lucky to find more than one watchable episode a season.

nah, season 10 is where the abd episodes started to outnumber the good. Even season 9 was a mixed bag, though mostly great.

I've always thought season 1 was relatively under-rated. Even if the animation isn't all that great and the writing isn't quite there, I think it's decent as a whole. I would rate it above anything from about season 10-onward.

as blacksharpiemarker points out, ever since they started having a shiat ton of guest stars, things have gone down hill.

Principal Skinner - Oh dear god can you imagine Bart's reaction? Possibly his mother drives him off a cliff [literally] finally?

Reverend Lovejoy - He's the one I'd put money on, but I don't know if you can really refer to him as a "regular" when he's only on occasionally...

Dr. Julius Hibbert - Going the way of his brother? Ehh, not feeling it, and he's also not quite regular enough for me to be a true regular

Kent Brockman - Possible, more regular than some others, but it still doesn't feel like it'd be him

Scratchy - Dies every episode he's in, so not exactly a good chance on it

Otto - Definite possibility, but has a pretty large fan following. Their offices might want to be ready for a stoned mob if it is him

Jasper - Definitely not a regular, he only shows up occasionally

Lenny - Carl goes right after him if it is

Edde Rainier - Who? Google doesn't find diddly on him/her

Wolfcastle/McBain - Not regular enough, but definitely possible if his movie career goes down in flames

Kang - Definitely not a regular, only shows up on Halloween normally

Herman - Not a regular

George Bush - One Shot (unless you count the tiny cameos where he was seen)

Judge Snyder - Not a regular

Antenna. Of course it won't work on your ipad, something about flash I'm sure, you have to get one of those giant tablets that you hang on the wall or sit on your entertainment center.

I haven't watched the Simpsons in years either, for a long time the only ones I found funny were the Treehouse ones, so that's all I watched, then I saw one of those that wasn't funny and I haven't seen it since. I'll try again this year.

George H.W. Bush: There's no way that I'll do a voice on that show. They made me look like an ass.

Barbara (deep bear-like voice): It wasn't the show that made you look like an ass.

George: Oh, shut up Bar. Nobody asked your opinion.

***
Bill: I stand by my decision that it would demean the Office of the President for me to appear on a cartoon show.

Hillary (looks over top of reading glasses): Oh, Bill. Who do you think you are are kidding?

Lisa Simpson plans a protest when President George W. Bush shows up to perform a dramatic reading from a book he has just finished at the Springfield's Children's Library. But she is embarassed when the President's dramatic reading of The Hungry Little Caterpillar completely justifies his actions before and on September 11, 2001.

Lisa: Oh, Mr. Bush ... Mr. President ...  I am so sorry. I've misjudged you terribly .....

Dubya: Don't be sorry little girl. A lot of people ... grown-up people even ... have seriously misunderestimated me. And I've let them think I was stupid for the good of America and the American people. You see, it was all a ruse to trap History's Greatest Monster ...

Lisa: Jimmy Carter?

Dubya: No, the other one. The real one .... Al Gore!

Lisa: Al Gore? But I thought he was a liberal, a gentleman and a scholar.

Dubya: He has fooled a lot of people, even smart little girls. But in reality, he is a megalomaniacal monster intent on destroying the environment and the world by plunging us into an Ice Age that would cause glaciers to descend from Canada and Scandinavia, destroying Christendom so his atheist hordes can ride down on polar bears and impose the worship of the old Norse gods upon powerless humanity as a tool of cynical dominion.

***

Aide: Mr. President, Matt Groenig calling again. He wants you to do a voice on The Simpsons.

Barrack Obama: Put him on the line. (picks up phone) Sure, I'll do the Simpsons. (...) Well, nobody asked before. (...) OK, so maybe they asked but I've been very busy crossing the t's and dotting the i's on my legacy, the Global Climate Accord with China.

Barrack Obama: Yeah. (...) Got it. Me and Mr. Burns. Sure, I love Monty.

Barrack Obama: OK, it's a date then. I'll have my secretary put it in my agenda.

Mike_LowELL: What's the point of killing a character fifteen years after they killed the show?

They kill a character every 15 years as a sacrifice to the Elder Gods. It's a way of pumping new life into the show. New, eldritch, squamous life.
