Sinclair-owned TV station hypes out-of-state letter saying that cheap-ass man can't keep his completely worthless insurance policy because it turns out not to cover anything, which is why it was cheap.

Where's the story again?

Doesn't matter as long as we can villify Obamacare.

I like the guy who says he knows no one who has cheaper rates and then states that no one knows what the new rates will be. But he just *knows* they will be higher.

What is the difference between insurance that doesn't actually cover anything and no insurance at all?

So the ACA puts insurance companies in the uncomfortable position of having to be more affordable/less byzantine snakepit, Sh*tbird Insurance BCBS takes it out on its clients in a last ditch blazing guns attempt at making a few more pennies before having to put on some big boy pants and perform its intended function, and this is why Obamacare is untenable.

F*ck. You. People.

Jansen's current plan costs him $139.50 per month, but according to the letter, his new plan will cost $229.19 per month

Where the fark does one get health insurance for under $300 a month?

And where do I sign up?

Individual plans for young healthy single people aren't that bad to get.  Most have high deductibles, and/or only cover 50% of some things.  Real insurance is much more expensive.  A few years back, I looked into some for the family because we ended up on COBRA (paying 100% of the cost).  First they wouldn't cover 2 of the kids...pre-existing conditions.  But regardless, for the remainder of us, me, wife and infant...it cost more than COBRA for all 5 of us.

The difference...individual/private plan v. group employer plan (larger groups get better rates).

My guess is the exchanges will likely be priced more like individual/private plans instead of some type of group plan substitute.  But we'll see.

I was in the same boat.  I obtained mt pre-existing conditions while under my current plan, though, and the premiums I pay today would make your eyes water.

I can't WAIT for Obamacare to finally kick in.  Screw these young people and their constant biatching.  They'll be old some day if they're lucky.

A certain "independent" who's been in every ACA thread since forever bleating about how it's a disastrous pile of dogsh*t suddenly switched to a new tactic yesterday, asking other Farkers to get him some real data so he can do an honest comparison of existing plans and new ones. He's just asking questions and wants to be totally fair!

I think we'll see a similar shift in tactics from the right in general as ACA is implemented.

Your health impacts my tax dollars.  If you decide to be stupid and selfish and not get quality health insurance, we have to pay for it when you can't.

So, don't be selfish and stupid.  Be a mature adult and get some quality insurance that shows you care more about yourself and other people than simple money.

First there was that poor guy down in Kentucky who turned out to be an executive at an insurance lobbying firm and now this totally cherrypicked example of a twenty-something with just enough wit to realize he needs insurance but not enough sense to know that he's getting nothing for his suspiciously low monthly premium but a false sense of security. We all know that the plural of anecdote is data and here are two anecdotes! It's proven--Obamacare is a total disaster that must not be implemented no matter how many sick children die or poor people are forced to  use the ER in lieu of preventative care. Will no one think of the fedora'd hipsters being forced to participate in the national welfare?

Guys like him must be where the insurance companies make all their money--they take in the most amount of money for the least amount of care. They lose that income and the insurance companies may actually have to compete amongst themselves for less income by offering  more coverage.

OMG! Capitalism is breaking out and we have to stop it NOW!!1!

The cheapest insurance I could find was through my cat.  Premiums were only 20 cents/year, I was well protected from lizard bites and it covered CAT scans, obviously.

Now, according to a message scratched in his litter box he's dropping me because he can't comply with provisions of the ACA.
