Brainsick: doglover: rocky_howard: aspirin

Aspirin IS found in nature.

I'm not saying the article has merit here, but watch your citations.

Well, sort of. That's like saying Morphine is found in nature because opium poppies made into tea will get you high.

/The best kind of correct?

I'll take it one step further and say Heroin is natural. Because heroin is just morphine that has been metabolized by the liver.  So every person on morphine is a walking (using the term loosely) illicit drug manufacturer.

/also was first marketed by Bayer

Why does anyone need a microwave?

I  bet you don't even own a TV.

I didn't own a microwave or a TV for years and years. Then I got married, and my wife made me buy both of them. Then she left me, and now I have a microwave and a TV that I never use.

You can give them to me, and I will lord them over you in an anti-luddite situation.

And then I'll have two tvs, and two microwaves. And all I need is one more of each

Here's a pretty neat idea for microwaves. Why didn't anyone think of this before?

Dingleberry Dickwad: Great. I know of at least 2-3 people I known on Facebook that will end up posting this horseshiat thinking it's true. Same thing with that stupid "New drug called strawberry Kwik" shiat that's made the rounds a few times. Does everyone take this kind of shiat as gospel truth because some goofy as blog or conspiracy website says so or something?

I just got into an.argument with someone for.posting.that stupid strawberry quik thing.... they called me a drug dealer and.threatened.to.report me to the.cops for defending these illegal substances. Yes, that really happened.

It always starts that way, but in a couple hundred years you end up with people killing each other over what the most positive words are and what shape crystals are best.

I died ten after ten days of eating food from microwaves.

I have since recovered, though.

Smeggy Smurf: It's not the microwave, it's the mind controlling chemicals in the prepackaged food.  Don't tell me that you don't notice things after eating HCFS.  The random thoughts about how bad things are, the desire to vegetate and watch local news.  Oh yes, the HFCS is a GMO that makes you susceptable to the mind control subfequencies that the local news stations have been pumping out.

Don't believe me?  Turn off the TV.  You'll quickly find you're less paranoid.  I turned mine off years ago.  Now all I watch are shows online and on channel 6.3 in Boise TNN is broadcasing country music again.  Older stuff, texas country, red dirt country.  I'm not afraid anymore.  I've seen what the HFCS can do to people.  It's scary stuff.  Too much of that and you'll start believing in chemtrails and other nonsense.

You've been watching too much KTVB...

GhostFish: Kind of sad that the information age has brought an apparent rise in quackery.

We demand that people be open minded, but we don't demand critical thinking skills.

And ultimately we end up with a bunch of people who consider themselves to be brave, independent thinkers - who want the rest of us to "open our eyes" and "wake up". But in reality, they're the most blindly inept and easily lead schmucks out there. They fall for all the basic cons of quacks, hucksters and carnival barkers.

Makes me feel like we're all the butt of some mildly sadistic joke by greater forces.

Just like organisms, cons have evolved so that the most successful ones have been handed down to each new generation of win men. We are no smarter or better at critical thought than our ancestors and the cons they fell for will work today. And just like the internet has made it easier and more efficient to do most work it has made it easier to win people.

Information age man is no better or worse than bronze age man, we just have different tools and skill sets.

All those "wins" should be "cons", I blame auto-correct and tired burrito grease stained fingers.

gingerjet: A microwave is a tool. A pot is a tool. The fact that you feel all hipster by stating you don't use a microwave is actually quite sad.

I'm waaaaaay too old to be a hipster.
I think a big part is that I grew up w/o a microwave and learned to cook the old fashioned way. I think we got our first microwave when I was a teenager.
Regardless, a microwave oven uses radio waves which as radiation goes, shouldn't be confused with the products of decay.

The fact that you think taking the easy way out is just retarded.

don't blame subby, Like 30 seconds before I came to FARK last night, I saw this shait on Facebook, which means it was doing the social media rounds recently and that's how he found it and brought it here so we can mock it. And boy did we mock it. So, thanks subby for bringing stuff for us to snark to.

No, no, I wan't blaming subby, or the admin who greened it, but rather the admin who subsequently redlit it. Why take i t away just because people talked about it six years ago?

Thankfully because not everyone is required to live the way you deem correct.

I'm not claiming that it's correct or incorrect to use a microwave...just that I haven't needed one. Microwaves just seem like gadgets now, instead of appliances.

/Sorry I ruffled your feathers I guess

You didn't offend me. It's just the way you wrote "why does anyone need a microwave" as if to say if you didn't need one nobody should.

I'm in the middle of remodeling my kitchen, entire thing is gutted at the moment. Everything I've eaten in the last month was either microwaved or cooked on my George Forman grill.

Well, it's just from my perspective. I can understand using one if you don't have access to an oven, but I just haven't found a need for one. I guess I do have a gas oven, so that might make a difference. It's just that if you do have an oven there isn't anything, I can think of, that an oven can't do just as well as a microwave...provided you have an extra 10 min.

I really meant it as an honest question, but I can see, as this is the internet, that it could be viewed as a snarky remark.

The whole reason I bought the Forman grill was for burgers. I love home made burgers but the top of the stove always gets splattered in grease when you use a frying pan. Of course I cook all kinds of things on it now, best 50 bucks I ever spent.
