"Solaris"? Nope, sorry. Replace that with "Moon" maybe and I'd be OK with the list.

Apollo 13 before Star Wars is acceptable

However leaving Star Trek completely off the list is not

Star Trek First Contact, IMO, is the best Trek film of all time (and this is coming from someone who didn't like TNG). A lot of people like Star Trek II more, but Kahn is just too preachy.

First Contact better than Wrath of Khan, are you insane? Even Search for Spock was better than First Contact.

You have to take into account the context: WoK came out after the disaster that was Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It took us back to the heart of the show: the characters. Plus it looked better for a helluva lot less money (thank Nicholas Meyer for that). The effects were pretty groundbreaking for the time. But First Contact is probably #2 on my list of favorite Trek movies.

I'd also try to fit "Sunshine" in there somewhere. An under-appreciated movie, imo.

Top ten lists like this are always doomed to fail. There are always more than ten good whatevers.

Where's "Silent Running"?

List totally works without Spaced Invaders.

And like fusillade762 said, switch Moon with Solaris.  Then I'm good, too.

First Contact was the best TNG movie but that's not saying much. Wrath of Khan is easily the best Trek film and Search for Spock was very underrated.

First Contact was easily the worst of all Trek films--until Abrams got his hands on the franchise. Undiscovered Country and Wrath of Khan are the top two, in that order.

No "Forbidden Planet" FAIL LIST.

No way that it was worse than Generations. Or Nemesis.

I thought the consensus was that The Final Frontier was the worst Trek film followed by TMP

I liked Generations, and Nemesis was bad, but it wasn't First Contact bad. The Borg were always terrible villains and Voyager reduced them to nothing more than vampiric tin soldiers. Hell, they were eradicated in the novels by a character from Enterprise.

The Final Frontier wasn't really that bad. The stuff with Kirk/Spock/ McCoy was decent, it didn't really fall apart until they met "God". If the FX budget didn't run out, it would have been a lot better. And it didn't have nearly as many plot holes as Generations or the JJ movies. TMP was boring as hell but it had really good production values and was more of a sci fi movie than any of the others.

Pretty much everyone disagrees with you.

Although I do disagree with one placement on that list. The last place should be held for Enterprise.

YES I KNOW ITS NOT A MOVIE, but its just so farking terrible that there should be a new Internet law: on any Star Trek related list, Enterprise is to be placed in last

It doesn't mean they're right.

Enterprise's last season was actually pretty good, except for the last episode.

Enterprise really wasn't that bad. I mean sure it has it's wtf stupid moments same as all Trek does but it really wasn't that horrible. Hell I'd re-watch Enterprise yet again before I'd go back and re-watch the first season and some of the shiattier episodes of TNG. And I'd certainly watch it before drek like Spock's Brain and a few of the time travel episodes of any Trek. I will give you that any Enterprise episode having to do with the "Temporal Cold War" bullshiat were stupid. Also, no Last Starfighter or Event Horizon?

Anyone see Calling Europa? It's a bit of a cross between Moon and a found footage movie, NASA advised on it as well, pretty good flick.

Thanks for reminding me about Forbidden Planet. I'd vote for that. Yeah, it looks (and sounds) dated now, but like Voyage To The Moon, it pushed the envelope. It's a good one to have on a movie history list.

I haven't seen Moon or Dark City. I'll look them up. Thanks!

I saw Outland long ago, but maybe I should give it another shot, I remember the pacing was off. Could have been the type of movie I wasn't ready for at the time.

Holy shiat... is that the ones where the kids in the jr. space program end up in space accidentally? I haven't even thought of that movie in years. Hell I don't even remember the name of it, but I remember seeing it. Came out in the early 90s or something didn't it?

Not sure Dark City really counts as a space movie, it is only revealed towards the end to explain some oddities of the plot, the fact that they are in space doesn't really play much of a part in the story
