Since it wants me to sign up to read the story, I'm just going to have to take your word for it, subby.  It's now a story based entirely on hearse-say.

The victim was reportedly laughing at the hearse before it crashed into her.

So her car dies and she just stops in the middle of the highway, doesn't put on her hazards, no road flares, and it's farking midnight. Nice job, moran.

I spend a lot of time on the highway. You'd be surprised how many people do this. Pull over just barely onto the shoulder, then wander aimlessly while on the phone with AAA, often times stepping into lanes of traffic.

natural selection at work.

If Hess owned that funeral company that would be cool.

He could call it Hess and Hearse.

I feel bad for the guy who hit her, considering his car burned down.  His career is practically dead in its tracks!

Did you ever think, when the hearse goes by, that you would be the next to die?

I had a hearse when I was 15. I used to drive it around back country roads by my house. It was pretty neat.

How the fark do you breakdown in the middle lane at freaking midnight? What did she do, slam on her brakes the second her car sputtered? She wasn't traveling at a fast enough speed to be able to merge under momentum only ?

CSB:

I commute to downtown Phoenix from the North Valley and for those of you familiar, I take the 51.
I was coming down from the mountain and of course, being the left lane bandit that I am, was in the left lane (not HOV) doing around 70.
At this area the speed limit drops by 10, while on a big down hill run and under a bridge where cops like to sit.
So I downshift to slow down and my car stalls (one of the reasons I sold it) and I couldn't get it restarted.
I was able to, in heavy but flowing traffic, merge all the way into the right lane for exit without pissing too many people off. Right before I got to the off ramp I was able to get it restarted and continued to work. All the while I had only slowed to about 40 and no power steering or brakes.

I sure as hell wasn't going to try and go for the HOV breakdown lane, that's almost worse than just stopping in the middle lane.

Got the video from my dash cam of it, just gotta find it...

This morning, on my way to work, I saw the damndest thing, and your comment reminded me of it.

There are 3 lanes of highway that split up ahead.  The traffic in the right lane is allowed to use the shoulder during rush hour making a 4th lane.  So, I'm in the 2nd lane, and traffic has come to a halt.  This happens sometimes.  So I carefully switch to the 3rd lane to bypass.  I notice what has happened.  Someone rear-ended a minivan.  The jerkoff in the minivan decides to get off the road by cutting in front of me, and continuing on to the shoulder.  Evidently, he didn't realize there were cars going 70mph in that now open, 4th lane.
Fortunately, the first person came to a screeching, smoking stop with out hitting the minivan.  Which was really a miracle.  Because he just pulled right into that lane and stopped!

I'm not sure what happened after that as I just continued driving.  But I'm sure that created quite a mess for a few miles.

If she was on the southbound side of Rt. 24, how the hell does the hearse going  northbound crash into her unless it was driving up the wrong side of the highway?  Rt. 24 has three lanes going each direction, with a decent sized median strip (and barrier) between them.

BAD NEWS : The hearse isn't running either...

Bad reporter - other articles indicate that she was originally in the middle lane of the northbound side, and that her car got spun around in the impact.

It wasn't transporting anyone, but had an operator? Damned remote hearse pilots. Stick with drones, guys.

Just looked at your profile. Coulda sworn you were describing 66, but I guess not.

Opposing point: what if her alternator caused the car to stall, and like most drivers, don't have road flares?  Can't turn on hazards when the battery died getting her that far.  I will give you one thing, she should've coasted off the road better.
