I'm still trying to figure out which team would be able and stupid enough to pay that. Obviously, there's the Angels who have never said no to a long deal for a player on the wrong side of 30. But after that, who? The Dodgers maybe?

/actually, the Dodgers probably would be a good fit considering they have the resources to spare and I don't think anyone worth mention at second base
//... checks. Yup Mark Ellis and Skip Schumaker are the only 2B on the roster and they're both in their 30s

chimp_ninja: Other teams (Hi, Kansas City!) have organizational flaws like an inability to understand the value of OBP, and make horrible decisions. Almost all teams overrate relievers and underrate defense.

The Mets are dealing with this right now.  The defense part.  Juan Lagares is an absolute monster CF.  He should be there for another decade, even if he hits 225 with no power or ability to draw a walk.  But the Mets keep thinking about alternatives.

oryx: Ten year contract for a 31 year old player. That's pretty funny. Cano's future performance is all downhill from here.

If I were signing him to 10 years, $305 million, I'd have a you-must-use-HGH clause. No question.

I hope so.  As much as I admire the methodical efficiency of Three True Outcomes (HR/BB/K) hitting, it's exciting to have a healthy population of glove-first, speedy players.

As PED testing lowers the runs/game environment, guys like Legares increase in value.

Hey everyone, raise your hand if you don't want a 10 year, $300 million contract.

PED testing shoudl increase runs/game because it hurts pitchers way more than position players.

Big Beef Burrito: Someone will overpay for him. Its pretty much guaranteed.

If anyone pays him 310 million dollars, cases of alcohol would have to be involved first.

Mandatory testing began in 2004.

Doesn't seem to be hurting pitchers.
