The Republicans are correct, however, as the Affordable Care Act will cause substantial economic hardship if it is neither repealed nor defunded. Their position is based upon the undeniable fact that the Republican party will intentionally crash the economy if the Act is neither repealed nor defunded.

I think there's an even chance they'd intentionally crash the economy even if the Act is repealed or defunded, mostly because if they can get away with it once, there's no limit to the demands they'll attach to raising the debt ceiling.

But only when there's a Democrat in the White House, of course.

FTFA:"The Republican Party has just spun itself up around this issue," he said. "And the fact is, the Republicans' biggest fear at this point is not that the Affordable Care Act will fail. What they're worried about is it's going to succeed."

"Think about that. Affordable health care is worse than a law that lets slave owners get their runaway slaves back," Obama said. "I mean, these are quotes. I'm not making this stuff up.
"All this would be funny if it wasn't so crazy," he said.

It seems the problem with pointing out the crazy is that Republicans literally cannot notice it.  It's a mental block.

I don't think either of those matter quite as much as their own party breaking ranks. If the pre-Tea Party GOP decides to fight this fight they'll probably win it.

That said, if BOB is mocking or making light of the Obamacare debate, that should show you just how much he actually "cares" about health care. There's nothing funny about this. If he's laughing in the face of the American people that tells me two things 1) Obamacare is solely about political one-ups-manship and 2) BOB might very well be a psychopath.

The GOP is threatening to crash the country for petty political reasons and you think Obama is the one with the mental issues?

Remember that one time (many times), when Obama or Biden was quoting someone else and the GOP totally used that video clip as if to suggest that Obama or Biden said that as an original quote?  Good times.

//I think this quote might be a little too ridiculous for them to selectively edit and claim Obama said it first, but I've been wrong before

Unfortunately you're basing that on Republicans being ability to see the consequences of their actions, on what the people want, or on them being able to evaluate the quality of their argument.

Obama is a poor leader with a very thin skin.  He has taken more pot shots at people who disagree with him than any other president I can recall. It's not becomming of the office, and just  divides the country further.

I get it. A lot of people do not like this man as president, but a good leader rises above that and finds a way to lead.  He can't or simpley wont.

The nation as a collective rejected the Republican party platform in the 2012 Presidential election, yet the Republican party insists that their entire platform be implemented as a condition for not crashing the economy.
