Allen. The end.: It's too late for Caturday, but I had to post. I am taking my cat Jupiter to be put down Monday. She is 20 years old, does not eat, and has a tumor that is wrecking her left thigh. I want to die.

Oh, sweetie, we're all so very sorry to hear that.  **hugs**  We know it's hard, but you know it's the right thing to do.
All you can do is ease her pain and let her know she is loved.  Be brave.  Come back.  We'll be here.

Attempt to embiggen this enuf to be seen. & Good Meowning to all.  Esp Allen. The end, as it's his last full day to love on Jupiter before assisting him to the Bridge on the morrow. Condolences in advance. As said, you'll get thru it, & given circumstances it sounds like kindest thing for him.
This was on cover of recent BasBleu  cat-alogue that natch saw yesterday, unable to lay hands on this AM. The next one, yes.  Fooey.   Edward Gorey puzzle, Bibliophile With Cats.Resembles here, cept we haven't chair like this & only creamsicle felines, Ginger & his 2 non-kin nephews Jimmy & Stripe.
Type at ft of pg 12, on to 13 then back to Editing text NL version as mentioned last eve.

Good Meowning, everybuddy! Kinda sorta caught up, but just scanned through so I apologize if I missed anyone.

Allen The End I am so sorry for what you are going through. I lost my two 20-something year old kittehs a couple years ago. My son is 27, so that was like his little brother and little sister. He sobbed for days. One we had to have put down as it was the only kind thing left to do for him. My son and mother fled the room and I stayed with him until he passed. The other died here at home a month later, surrounded by family (my grandmother did as well!), just like any other member of the family. That's just it - they are family and it hurts when they leave us. Grieve all you need to grieve and know that you gave Jupiter the best possible life. A lot of cats don't make it to that age, so you can hold your head high and know you are an awesome pet parent.

Sherpa, you wouldn't happen to have Comcast, would you? lol! They've been a PITA lately but I've never had problems with them before. I have no idea what happened, but we had to upgrade our modem and ended up going through a string of "techs" (I think it was actually a pack of barely trained monkeys) who were supposed to give us a password (yet couldn't seem to figure out WHAT password that may be) to set it up and then put in our own password. I finally got mad, stood in the street with my laptop, picked up someone else's signal and asked on a hack and crack site if anyone knew how to set it up myself. Lo and behold, I had a workable password in less than five minutes. THANK YOU, SHIFTY PEOPLE OF TEH INTARWEBZ! They're much more useful than Comcast "tech support", that's for sure.

I was distracted by some pics of cute animals I've never heard of (a slideshow), and I'd heard of most of them. However, I did find a few I had not and had to look them up. So, I give you, a baby Numbat!
www.zooborns.com
They are indigenous to Western Australia and are a type of marsupial. The females don't have a pouch on their little tummies though, so now I'm trying to remember what makes it fit in the "marsupial" category. I really don't remember too terribly much of my edumactionzz, but that's hardly surprising considering I, like our friend John Buck, don't even remember what I ate for lunch most of the time.

I'll find more cutie pics of exotic aminals and be kind of in and out of here. Today - electricians! My mom has been such a good customer to one guy and his small business over the years that he doesn't charge her extra for weekends. I think that's cool, even if it means GoGo Beastie will be cowering in terror under my bed all day over what will probably only be a one hour visit. Poor little Go!

John Buck 41: dopekitty74: Sadly not all such stories have happy endings. Am visiting a friend atm and last night she told me that one of the apts in her bldg had been empty for a cpl of weeks and was starting to smell and when investigated, two cats were found dead, one had died early on, the other much later. The second kitty did NOT eat the first kitty. They must have been really good friends or possibly littermates. I has a sad :(

So these assholes just moved out and left their cats behind?

Jesus Christ, people farking SUCK.

Thats how we got cat #4, Oliver Heimdal. He was left in a locked shed and escaped after he starved enough to get through the floor. He found my friends' house and they kept out food and water for him, but couldnt add another to their mensgerie. 3 posts on facebook and my husband was off to pick him up!

Oooo! Look at these cutie heads!

This is a Chevrotain Mouse Deer:
1.bp.blogspot.com

Here's an adult and juvenile:
25.media.tumblr.com

They are a type of primitive ruminants and eat mostly plants (I'm going to guess insects as well, though the info page didn't say why it was only "mostly" plants). There are many subspecies and they range in size from 1 1/2 pounds for the smallest Asian variety to an African type that tips the scales at 35 pounds. They have remained relatively unchanged for the past few million years as apparently both Mother Nature and the deity of your choice agree - you can't improve that kind of cute!

Oh man, I have been there. Sometime if you have a week I can tell you the story of trying to get my utilities turned on when I moved here. Glad you are functional again!

John Buck 41: sno man: John Buck 41: sno man: John Buck 41: Love that lake pic!

Thanks, that place, from the first time we saw it, is special, the heart beats a little slower, the blood pressure drops, the knot in the shoulder loosens.. especially when the water is like that...

Indeed. There are few things more calming than a small lake/pond without a ripple on it.
[farm9.staticflickr.com image 800x600]
Okay, a couple tiny waves there, but still...

nice!  That looks like it'd work too!!

Taken at our camp in early/mid May of this year

You two are making me really jealous. Every year I would rent a lake cottage for a week. It is on a wonderful swimming/kayaking lake and I miss it. I need a job! BTW: Sno man, if you are interested in colorful trees, the weekend of Oct 19th is estimated to be peak for the area you are thinking of traveling to.

Sweetie, we are here for you. Most of us have had to make a similar decision and know what you are going through. You can take some comfort in knowing that you provided Jupiter a wonderful 20 years and you are doing the kindest, most loving thing for her now. Grieve however you need to, then come back if you want and share pictures and stories with us.

They're too small to eat, but AUSTRALIA, so you never know. They are different sorts over there, I've noticed. They probably think the same about us Yanks. Especially since the first thing I thought when looking at the markings on the adult and juvenile Chevotrain I just posted and saw the little white patches on their chests, I thought "Hmmmm. Kinda like a reverse spray tan to make it look like you have pecs when you actually don't." because California, yo. We are different sorts here, too.

I am so sorry. We just had to do the same for our oldest old lady cat. The only good thing was the vet came to our house and Sammer sat on my lap as she crossed the bridge.

1) it's never "too late" to contact such a mutually supportive group as this
2) stories like yours are why i get puddly-eyed when i hear "grizabella the glamour cat"
3) up, up, up past the russell hotel...  she'll still be with you, and i'm sure she's loved having you as her chosen hoomin...
