Wow, late to the party tonight...
Tonight was the meet the teacher night, and that seemed to go well!  It'll be hard to top last year's teacher, though.

Buddy of mines father passed away the other day and there is a service tomorrow.  His dad was 86, I'd last seen his dad in March as he was getting the house 'fixed up' to sell, and he looked okay then, but the cancer was pretty aggressive, and with his wife gone 11 years, and the house they'd had over 30 years gone as well, I think he didn't have a whole lot of fight, or interest in the fight...

On a happier note, All the cats are getting along nearly all of the time, other than the odd time the little kittens cross Pandora, or Jack tries to tackle Nyx.  Panda and Nyx even have come to an understanding...

And a kitten...

Zigby from a couple of weeks ago.  By Sunday I should have a few mins. to take a few new pics of the kittehs...

I'm pretty sure I heard a Moose on the far shore at the lake the other day*, and we are going to be up there Saturday mostly to receive the delivery of the siding and roofing for my storage shed.  But there will be a campfire and things cooked on sticks, and a paddle or two in the canoe, and with luck a pic of that moose...

*Moose are at least a 45min - 1hour drive north of our lake, and more typically 2-3hours north... this is a rare thing.

Posting this from another thread:

We have two cats. Smudge was my cat and Jorgi was my wife's cat. When we shacked up it was a huge shock to both cats and they fought like hell for a week or so. They eventually got used to each other and everything was great. Then my cat started pissing on the floor next to the litter box. We tried everything. We had like four litter boxes at one point for two cats. The vet put my cat on prozac and that kinda worked but it turned the cat into a recluse. Eventually we found that cat attract litter and that works pretty well. No more giant pissing problem. We just need to clean the litter box every day.

Now they've been living together for about six years and my cat is starting to lose her sh*t. She started hissing at Jorgi about a year ago. It's degenerated to the point where my cat will physically attack Jorgi whenever they get near each other. I feel bad for Jorgi because she's like WTF and hides and then smudge just c*nts her way away to go kill a mouse or something. She meows and kinda growls like crazy for every little thing. Hungry? RAWWWWRRR. Want to go outside? MRRRRAAAAAWWWWWRRRRR. I just think she's going crazy. Anecdotally, her sister, who lives with my mom, is completely retarded. Like fall off the couch and land on her head retarded. I really think my cat is losing her mind and feel bad. I'm the only one she's nice to. She will come to me once everyone else goes to bed and cuddle like she used to when I was single. I'm not sure what to do. She is making Jorgi miserable and I think she pretty much hates the family life. We've been to the vet and she's perfectly healthy. So TFD.... Wat do?

I only got about 30 pages into the first one, and had to put it down.  Keep in mind, I'm no book snob, one of my guilty pleasures is the Sookie Stackhouse stories by Charlaine Harris in a not dissimilar universe, who is not by a long shot ever going to win any literary award... but compared to Steph Meyers, comes off like Shakespeare.

Well, some cats do get senile, so this may be what is going on. I might wonder if there is something wrong with the other cat, that is making the female unhappy..maybe a felway collar would help. Either that or restrict where they can be..umm..give them a bath so they both smell the same?

Welcome news is Welcome, esp finding of wallet by tigerose's son wizden's cat wars, not so much so.
Up way too late last night to no avail, no repeat performance.
Beta females do come when requested to be fed; often galooping to their room from living room.  Furry likes to nap in there as it's quiet, & is where she & her kittens were in early days.
Had hope of a Goody Night pic, but flash player malfunctioned so reckon not.  CYa in the daylit AM.

They're both female. Jorgi seems fine and just minds her business. The layout of my house isn't really conducive to separating them. This sucks.

Will silicone spray damage a counter top?

Yeah yeah I know but this is cat related I swear. You see my cat has taken to laying on top of the fridge. Well when it's time to get down he jumps to the counter, then to the floor. I am thinking that some silicone on that counter and the next time he comes flying of the fridge he would hit the counter and not stop, slamming face first into the wall behind the counter. Don't worry his face is used to it... if you walk through the house he will run in front of you to lead you to his food dish, he will frequently look back to make sure you're following and when he does SLAM! Right into the wall. Dumb cat. He acts like he's gonna starve but what makes him even dumber is that he has an auto-feed bowl. Sigh...

I have no pics of him that are easily uploadable but he looks almost identical to the I can haz cheeseburger cat.

I wonder if the vet might have another med that might help... not all anti-dep's work (the same, at all, et al) in all humans, why would they all work at all or the same in cats...

my first question is what kind of counter top.... second thought is that silicone isn't going to be slippery enough to do what you hope it will...  what would end it in a heartbeat would be something sticky, like fly paper, but not that sticky... there is a mid tack double sided tape intended for drop cloths on hardwood or tile (check your nearest paint store)

2013-09-26 11:28:09 PM
Majick Thise -  if your goal is to keep your cat off the counter (or the top of the fridge) - try taping blown up balloons there for a bit - it's cheap, easy, removable - and cats generally avoid them - i did this to keep one off a certain chair.

If yours is ornery, results may vary

I have heard (or read) that sheets of aluminum foil on the counter will kitties away from the counter. It is worth a try. I wouldn't try the silicone.

Put a couple of the "mouse-sized" glueboards on the counter.
The first time they step on one, it takes away the urge real quick.
It's funny as hell to watch.
