The way that was kicked I don't think the trick really mattered

Yep gotta agree - that shot was going in regardless of the skullduggery invovled.

Against a top-fight team, there might be a slim chance that either the wall or keeper could have deflected that shot.

In the German fourth teir? There was no trickaration needed. That was going to be a goal no matter what.

10 points for 'skullduggery'.

Not a soccer fan but that was cool.

The only "trick" that mattered with this kick is that it went into the upper right corner of the goal. The prancing around before the kick did nothing.

I think it was a neat play, but the shame is that anything less than 100% of the credit will go to the kick. It was a beauty.

Some times you get neat results form trick set pieces.

Some times you get this.

freak7: if the goalie knew it would be that player taking the kick, he most likely cheats to his left and has a chance at punching it away. I've been a soccer goalie for 27 years and kind of know what I'm talking about.

I kindly disagree. When you're that close to the goal, it's a guess. The goalie wasn't fooled by the kick, he clearly moves in the correct direction. It was just a really good kick that put it way out of reach.

SOCCER FIGHT!!!.....  Oh wait, it's soccer, one of you will just fall over and pretend to get hurt when the other guy gets too close.

i always thought there was trickery in soccer, i just thought it never really helped all that much.  as stated here, that should would probably have gone in without the trickery.

Can't find it on Youtube, but the Portuguese youth team did something similar at a U-19 World Cup years ago.

Two players pretended to be fighting over who would take a corner. They even went up for a chest bump kind of like this:

As soon as they landed one of them sent in the corner kick. The defending team just stood there as the ball was headed in for a goal.

That's the play my beer league would pull once a year. Worked about half the time. You have to argue longer than two seconds though.

The most surprising part was that no one fell to the ground pretending to be injured.

That is the sort of skullduggery one can expect at computer camp.

Was the trick that they kicked the ball and it went into the net? That sounds like what soccer is supposed to be about. That, and not using your hands.

This trick from Man U was also good.

Not much good if the assistant referee doesn't know it constituted a fair short corner kick because the ball was set correctly before being played, and it's Chelsea's fault for not reacting to it.

When referees DO know the rules properly, it's great. FA Regulation Law 12 says a goalkeeper has to have the ball in hands (plural) to count it as being under full control, and it's only an offense if a player interferes with a ball held in a goalie's hands. It says 'hands' repeatedly.  If the goalie is going to have it cradled under one arm, it's not in his control. Good decision to allow the goal.

Yeah, inept officials ruining a goal, who'd have thought it!

That Forest goal is awesome :) I had seen it before but forgotten about it.
