Subby, can you read? There's no amendment to fix anything. She just thinks the 14th amendment, as written, means the debt ceiling is not constitutional.

It doesn't matter, if Obama fulfills the requirements of the 14th regarding debt, in the face of self-destructive acts by congressional republicans, he will quite liberally be accused of violating the constitution, and he will be impeached.

Republicans demonstrated their contempt for the intent of articles of impeachment in the 90s, and it won them the white house.

I think that's covered under the "rebellion" part of the amendment.

Too bad it isn't that simple.

Then Obama could announce some regulations for the militia. That would be cool.

Dear subby; Not since Obama has been in office has ANYONE on the left called the GOP "biatches" and slammed anything down in disgust and said something an actual adult would say to petulant children. Not one damn time.
We've certainly been waiting, but it's never happened.

Obama is not going to give the GOP an excuse to impeach them. He'll make them look bad, time will run out, they'll raise the debt ceiling in the end because the alternative is them getting f*cking destroyed in the polls in 2014.

He's not going to let them impeach him. No excuses for it will be given, and the 14th Amendment language is honestly not going to come into play.

We've gotten to the point that refusing to do completely crazy things is regarded as crazy.

Pedal to the metal baby!  Monsters like Pelosi have no option other than to keep shoveling coal into the fire so we don't lose speed while heading over the cliff.  I don't even fault her really.... they are all in it together and if anyone dared to point out the non-sustainability of our economy and make moves to TRY and correct things, "the people" would throw them to the wolves.

Hard to tell through the bad grammar, but is this the "our economy has too much debt and we're going to default, so the only solution is to force a default" argument?

It did? I seem to remember something about the Supreme Court having a lot to do with how 2000 turned out.

At any rate, if the Clown Caucus wants to impeach Obama for ignoring their petty antics regarding the debt ceiling, let them. It'll just make Obama more popular. The GOP was full of shiat 20 years ago and they're even more full of shiat now.

1.  A full recount including the contested votes still resulted in a Bush win.
2.  Candidates trying to change state election laws during an election would set a bad precedent.

But by all means, proceed.  I own stock in Pfizer.

The damage a default on the US debt would do cannot be overstated. It's not hyperbole or doomsaying to say that a failure to manage this properly, and to default on the debt because the GOP wants to score points, would be a disaster of unprecedented proportions.

The dollar is the world's reserve currency. We're the bedrock on which much of the world builds its economy. The value of money is based on pretty much one thing: trust. If that trust is broken and we fail to honor our obligations, the country would quite likely never recover. It would go one of two ways: Catastrophic collapse in a short period of time, or (more likely), a relatively slow but inevitable decline into second-rate power status as the world seeks a new economic foundation. Either way, the US would never recover.

I'm more amused that you're a fan of the Bush win.  Considering the disaster he was for this country and all, you should be laying all the blame on some partisan Florida SC justices.

But, hey, some people like to eat cow tongue.  Takes all kinds.

And this is why the business interests that control the establishment GOP will do their utmost to see the House GOP stymied and brought into line.

They aren't going to pull the trigger on the debt ceiling. What they will do is:

1) Sell stocks now
2) Push the debt ceiling to the brink, scaring the sh*t out of the markets in the process, probably sending stocks into a tailspin
3) Buy back the stocks cheap
4) Magically fix the debt ceiling in an 11th hour push.

Sarah Palin is actually an idiot, albeit a cunning one who knows (or has been told) what her audience wants to hear. Most Palin threads are full of exact quotes demonstrating her idiocy.

Pelosi, on the other hand, provides a lightning rod for a lot of vague and aimless rage. That's what happens when every time a cat gets stuck in a tree Limbaugh and Fox manage to work in "Pelosi and Reid." There are far, far worse Democrats out there but she's the one the right's media machine has chosen as Pavlov's bell.

I'm not saying that everyone who hates Pelosi has no specific reason to. But damn, a whole lot of them would object if she said that water is wet.

And you know this how?  There were no hearings.  Benghazi got more attention.  Don't know about you, but tens of thousands of people killed, trillions of dollars wasted etc deserves a little more investigation than Benghazi.

I doubt enough votes were present when the Watergate hearings started.
