Well, they covered Warhammer 40k, But I don't see Battletech dropships on there.

Or Spaceball 1

Or the Yamato

Or the Kodan Command ship

... and I could go on...

Yep.  Ringworld and Dyson Sphere.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a Firefly class ship on there either.  Of course, it would only be a handful of pixels, but still.

Ever one over say about 350m...

Noticed that the Arcadia is one of the smaller ships, and Red Dwarf is dwarfed by Lex

Bah, no room for a TARDIS?

Each pixel equals 10 meters.  A tardis wouldn't even be visible.

It doens't forget about Space 1999 either!

Biggest ship, volume-wise, appears to be the city destroyers from "Independence Day", but technically those weren't starships:  The Mothership they were controlled from was the starship.

Top right.  Took me a bit, too.

What about the one from "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" that was described as "The size of Canada"?  That would give it a diameter of 3,568,000 meters.  Granted, the poster would then need to be 90 times larger to be able to show it.

2013-09-26 08:26:56 AM
Also, what about "Discovery" and the "Alexei Leonov" from 2001/2010?  Technically they aren't "starships", but then neither is the Valley Forge agro ship from "Silent Running".  Purely interplanetary, and by design can't stray too far from the sun.

There is a ship from the show on there. Serenity is just too small.

I don't care if its a repeat, its damn cool.

dittybopper: Also, what about "Discovery" and the "Alexei Leonov" from 2001/2010?

They weren't "Starships".  That said... I didn't see the ship from Rendezvous with Rama.

Nothing like a scale chart to remind you what an amazing little powerhouse the Nostromo was.

Uhh, you didn't read the rest of my post, did you?

Technically they aren't "starships", but then neither is the Valley Forge agro ship from "Silent Running".  Purely interplanetary, and by design can't stray too far from the sun.

Perhaps I forgot to specifically state that the purely interplanetary ship from "Silent Running" is on the poster, so it's not about strictly interstellar craft.  Also, the city destroyer ships from "Independence Day" aren't interplanetary either:  The mothership they separate from is the 'starship'.

I don't see the two death stars. Or the Lexx.

To The Escape Zeppelin!: dittybopper: Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a Firefly class ship on there either.  Of course, it would only be a handful of pixels, but still.

According to the Firefly wiki, the Serenity is 84 meters long, and 24 meters high.  At 10 meters per pixel, you could put a little blob on there that is 8 pixels long and 2 pixels high to represent it.

After all, they have the Star Trek Klingon Empire B'rel Class on there at 109 meters.  Serenity would be just a single pixel shorter.

2013-09-26 08:53:31 AM
From the look of the poster, someone started off by photographing their extensive collection of Warhammer 40K models and then went from there.

JonnyBGoode: I don't see the two death stars.

I don't see the Malevolence either.

Space whale?

Also, no Lectroids from Buckaroo Banzai?

Poster should be titled "Every starship from a dozen sci-fi TV, movie, and game franchises that have a rabid fanbase or that paid us money to do this, plus a couple of goofy ones from moronic forgettable movies, and one or two old-school things because we want people to think we have street cred"

dittybopper: JonnyBGoode: I don't see the two death stars.

I don't see the Malevolence either.

But they have most of the EU ships. I didn't see the Suncrusher, I think it was called. The one that's the laser from the Death Star without the Death Star around it?

JonnyBGoode: I don't see the two death stars. Or the Lexx.

Lexx is at the bottom near the left side.

White Base
Albion
Archangel
Ra Cilum

Pretty Much all the ships from Gundam are missing though they covered Robotech / Macross.

2013-09-26 09:05:05 AM
What, Robotech but no Super Excelion class or Buster Machine III from GunBuster?

This isn't even close to being close to "every". Subby vastly underestimates the amount of bad sci-fi out there.

Also, sci-fi writers have no sense of scale.

2013-09-26 09:07:53 AM
I see stargate atlantis ships, but no atlantis cityship.

NEEEERRRDDD!
/And where's the ship from Futurama?

2013-09-26 09:11:01 AM
All I take away from this is that most sci-fi designers have a comically inappropriate sense of how big their ships should be.

The whole poster is actually the inside of the Tardis cargo hold.

I see that FreeSpace2 is also represented, although it'd be nice if they had the Colossus on there as well as the Sathanas.  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm needed back in my parent's basement.

Some of them are there, upper right hand corner.  No Vorlon planet killer though.

Which is inside that galaxy marble at the end of men in black, which is in the monolith from 2001.

2013-09-26 09:24:03 AM
Wow, they dedicate a lot of space to quite possibly the third-worst game Games Workshop ever produced.

/Battlefleet Gothic, 3rd Edition Epic, Blood Bowl - in that descending order.

2013-09-26 09:26:56 AM

JonnyBGoode: I don't see the two death stars. Or the Lexx.

The Lexx is the penis on the bottom row, third from the left.

B5 is there, with one notable exception:  No Vorlon Planet Killer  :(

I guess it would probably be larger than the entire page.

I'm not sure if Markley's law applies to spaceships, but it should...
