wxboy: Because People in power are Stupid: Her response:

http://littleblackblog.net/2013/09/25/the-morning-after/

I celebrated my 26th bday with entire species of troglodyte-sapiens effectively paying my mortgage in ad and book sales in 36 hours and going fantastically nutso about my outrageous, offensive, and completely factual response to someone. I'll save everyone the googling to report that yes, I am a writer, and yes, I write pretty egregiously honest memoirs. The Taylor Swift of literature. It has worked out quite well thus far.

What a biatch.

Troglodyte is one of those words that you need a lot of banked cred to use.  Charles Pierce type of cred.  When a woman like this uses it she comes off as pseudo-intellectual, especially when paired with a phrase like, "The Taylor Swift of literature."

/I wish it were a biatchillier in here.

No, as a man who has a hyperthymic temperament, there is a difference between Bipolar disorder and Hypomania. In fact, Hypomania is actually a symptom of Borderline Personality Disorder or Narcissistic disorder, far worse than being bipolar.

gochuck: Independent of how crazy she is, she should at least know the numbers game in DC. Single, straight men are vastly outnumbered by women in DC. Beyond being crazy, she looks like going to the gym in 26 minutes, every 26 minutes couldn't hurt. She doesn't measure up against the competition. If she wants to have any chance of pulling off that amount of crazy, she's going to have to be hot enough to be considered hot outside of DC - Hollywood for ugly people.

You are wise, sir.  DC seems to attract unattractive, cold, ambitious people.  This gal and Monica Lewinsky would be good examples.  The single women outnumber the single men by something like 3-to-1.  For a single guy, it can involve banging quite a few of these gals quite easily.

Using your work Blackberry to send a dickpic, though, is a recipe for disaster.  I will never understand how simple-minded and stupid some dudes are.  You expect a gal to get all frothy over your dong?  Your dong, above all other dongs that she's seen in her life, is going to really tip things in your favor?  Write her a dirty limmerick or something.

Actually, no. The key word in Hypomania is "persistent", which is a Bipolar thing.  Borderline tends to lack much of anything in any great persistent sense.   Borderline is more of a general all the time thing with the traits, with sudden, but short, bursts of the really bad stuff.  Bipolar can last for days and weeks or longer.. Borderline tends to be bad for hours or a day and then passes.

To that end, I consider Borderline a little better/more manageable. If I had to choose, anyway. (Nobody gets a choice, though.)

I suspect she met him at the bar gave him her email then met later for drinks and dinner after which she slept with him. He likely saw her as an easy person to have sex with, because she is not very attractive and likely to welcome a sexual encounter. I can not see any reason to become so upset about someone you went on a few dates with then was dumped by them unless you felt you were taken advantage of.

Miss, it is simply because the situation is very relatable: Pretty much every man in America has had a horror story such as this happen to them at some time. Not many people can relate to being a direct victim of a terrorist attack.

I mean, a long time ago, I had a short liason with a woman, we had chemistry but it was clear we had radically different outlooks on a lot of things, so I decided to end it, in person. Later that day she had two of her thug friends try to intimidate me outside of my apartment. It wasn't pretty, but everything worked out in the end..Namely, I never saw her crazy ass again.

Nope. I think the problem here is the terminology. What I am referring to Borderline Personality Disorder, the ICD-10 labels as "Emotionally unstable personality disorder". Either way, being bipolar is incredibly difficult, but I feel people with BPD are of a greater threat to society, due to their devaluation/manipulation of other living beings.

Heck, perusing through the Wikipedia page, I feel that BPD describes Miss Pu to the hilt.

It was still gutless to dump her via a text, even if she may have gone a bit overboard in shaming him on

they went on two dates. is that even a dump? It really seems more like him letting her know that he doesn't want to be in a relationship with her so he doesn't have to dump her in the near future. Does that really need to be done in person?

No, but an Old like me tends to think that in person or at least on the phone would be the classier way to do it. But in today's world, and after two dates, and considering his "break-up" text (double quotes because I don't think it qualified as a relationship that needed a formal break-up) was fairly gracious, I don't think it's an outright faux pas. She herself says that when she first met him, she didn't think he was "phone number worthy" and all she gave him was her email addy, so she's even acknowledging that communicating by mail/text is an acceptable thing to do.

More important, though, considering her reaction, I don't think it would have mattered at all. He could have come over to her house accompanied by Dear Abby on one side and Emily Post on the other and she'd still be furious. I'm trying to imagine how his employers reacted (before they hit 'delete') when she sent them the screenshot. Screenshot of what, that he was texting to her from work? Or texting from an employer-provided device? So what? How much time could all this have taken, in sum total, considering their whole "relationship" lasted only two weeks? Seven minutes out of two weeks worth of workdays? Nine minutes? She's out of her mind.

In conclusion, I am so grateful to Al Gore for inventing the Intarwebs, because every day that I worry about running out of nonsense to laugh at, the Internet just keeps on giving.

Question: How does an absolute nobody become a memoirist, exactly?  Don't you have to have actually had noteworthy life experiences that somebody might be interested in reading about before you can be one of those?  It seems like it would be a pre-requisite.

It manifests differently for all people, and with great degrees of variations in severity.  It also tends to lessen with age, and if you're particularly self-aware, it can be controlled in ways that Bipolar can't.  Again, just my observation.

Whether or not this chick has any actual mental issues, I don't know.   I can say she fits the biatchy woman stereotype to a T and is exactly why I have almost no female friends. I can't stand that type, and would be better off communicating with aliens than one of those.

From her Blacktie "Have you met me" profile:

"Ms. Woodward Pu regaled her friends with emails detailing her new life in DC, and when Christmas 2009 came, she took up her mother's tradition of writing an annual Christmas letter. Realizing the wealth of material she'd generated in just six months in her post-college life, she realized to herself, "I could write a book!"

Welcome to the world of self-publishing. A major publisher had already offered to publish her book, but Ms. Woodward Pu decided to self-publish, and was rewarded with the first 24 hours of her books launch, she made almost as much money as the publisher offered for the entire deal."

ongbok: You can tell from her "I own a condo" line that she is one of those 20 somethings who's parents gave her the down payment for a condo and who's monthly support checks that they send her pays for the mortgage. I know and have known plenty of them. All think they are special and get mad at you when you point out to them that their parents are supporting them.

Yeah, but it's even more pathetic than that, since banks these days won't give a loan to someone who gets the down payment and mortgage payments from their pay-rents.  So the units actually own the place, and the "I owna condo" person is really just living in a place that their parents are using for an investment.

But hey, these people will often pick up a round if you don't humiliate them about their finances.
