I'm sure there are plenty of Catholics out there that have put "communion" in her mouth.

2013-09-25 06:43:59 PM
Oh no! Now she'll have to buy real crackers from the grocery store.

2013-09-25 06:49:36 PM
If you want to be a member, you have to play by their rules.

hah-hah!

Unless you're a pedophile, adulterer, pre-marital fornicator, supporter of the death penalty, supporter of war, etc...

You just described the Democratic party.

Unless she receives communion from the Cardinal making the statement, I don't see how it will change anything for her.  The Pope himself recently stated he wants the church to take a less aggressive role in terms of condemning abortion (amongst other things), so, there seems to be some internal conflict there.

As long as her priest continues to give it to her, that's likely all that matters from her perspective.

Not even a good-faith effort. Try harder.

The Pope wants to talk about other things, but he most certainly would never back away from condemning abortion.

Maybe this one won't back away from excusing raping children.

Nor should he in my opinion. I say that as a very poor excuse for a Catholic.

Not to mention taking food out of the mouths of hungry children by cutting $40 billion from the food stamp program. But I'm sure that's just what Jesus would do.

My dad was not allowed to receive communion because he was divorced from his first wife.  He told me he actually tried getting an annulment from the church but he couldn't afford the fee to do so.   So he stopped going to church.

Who the fark cares?

Catholics and Partisans deserve one another.

2013-09-25 08:07:58 PM
So basically the church is saying that lawmakers who have any disagreement with the church with respect to how they govern a civil society can be effectively excommunicated for not imposing church orthodoxy upon the broader, non-Catholic population.

Fark them.  This is precisely the problem with religion commingling with government.

Anybody remember when JFK was elected?

Why are we not prosecuting the prick for extortion?
Of a sitting US Congressperson, no less.

Would I pee on Pelosi if she were on fire?

Maybe - but I'd have to think about it for a while...

The Church isn't asking Nancy to impose her non-existent adherence to Church dogma upon her constituents, they are asking her to practice what she professes to believe in her own life. I personally don't care.

So then it's just fine for her to be Catholic. Glad that's cleared up.

2013-09-25 09:14:42 PM
This matters again why? Are they going to deny communion to every pro-choice catholic because those collection plates aren't going to fill themselves.

2013-09-25 09:15:43 PM

Mrbogey: About time.

Or they could just absolve her of the perceived sin of supporting abortion (not having one, mind you, just keeping the option open for others to make their own decisions), and let God judge her...You know, like that book says.

2013-09-25 09:17:40 PM
This is a person who obstinately, after repeated admonitions, persists in a grave sin - cooperating with the crime of procured abortion - and still professes to be a devout Catholic.

I see we're being liberal here with our definition of "cooperating," since I don't think Nancy Pelosi has performed any abortions.

Are you saying that Nancy Pelosi had an abortion?  Because that's the only way that your explanation makes any sense.

You can be against abortion personally but still recognize it as an act that only concerns a woman and her doctor, not the government.

Ok here's a scenerio: A professed devout muslim congresswoman advocates in congress for laws to protect things forbidden by Islam. Imam says she can't pray in a mosque any longer. What's the diff? Well, except she hasn't been honor killed into obedience.

I bet Pelosi would go on record saying that raping children is a bad thing.

The scary part is that most of them don't know why they loathe her aside from that they are TOLD to loathe her.  Ask for a reason why and you get vague accusations with no facts to support them.

Somebody call me when they refuse communion to a judge who hands out a death sentence. Until then they're just a bunch of assholes

You can't ABORT children because they need more to RAPE.

It all makes sense now.

I remember my grandpa being pissed that they took all those bowling balls and hung the rosary necklace around the statue of liberty.

Not that's not what I said. Ms. Pelosi may do as she wishes, but to say that abortion only concerns a woman and her doctor, ignores the fact that it is law and the government is wholly involved.

Yeah, I can hire a hit man to take out my neighbor, but that's just between he and I....no reason for the government to get involved.

You said it's up to Pelosi "to practice what she professes to believe in her own life," but her fighting against several religious groups' attempts to violate the First Amendment is certainly not that.
