The good news is that there is absolutely no one of voting age who doesn't know something about Ted Cruz now.  He's got the Romney Syndrome... the more people see him talk, the less they like.  Keep lining up the winners, GOP.  People who were previously ambivalent now are repelled by this bobo you can't bring to heel.

I wish this was more true. At the store today, I was flipping through one of the papers and stumbled on "Ted Cruz is the Republican Barack Obama."

He truly is the Joseph McCarthy for our times, in this sense: he's willing to fully embrace the ugliest, most vicious parts of our political climate for his own gain, no matter how much it hurts the country.  McCarthy cashed in on the Red Scare, Cruz is milking the teabaggers for all they're worth.

Ted Cruz is like Paul Ryan:  a surefire loser that peaks early and then might get picked to be a VP three years later so everybody can dig up exactly how big of a loser he is.

Well, this is very very early in the election cycle.  Romney was able to manage 47% of the popular vote.  I'd be surprised if Ted Cruz (with god-knows-what skeletons in his closet) could manage 45%.  I wonder what the GOP internal calculus says about Rand Paul's chances...

You want to cite a poll? Then I get to follow up with multiple polls that show when you remove the name "Obamacare", the majority favors it?

90% of Americans wanted to expand background checks. It was the "will" of the people. Why didn't you complain when the "will of the majority" was "ignored"?

Hold your breath and stomp your feet. It should work THIS time.

How is it a stretch? The stretch is in believing that a GOP house that was elected by a minority of voters is doing "what the people want"

There is method to this madness. Given the general trajectory of the Tea Party thus far, losing has far greater political value than winning ever could. For in defeat, the narrative of the besieged, strident defender of principle against an out-of-touch political class continues.

(and the closer:)

Cruz didn't come to the Senate to legislate - which demands compromise - but to perform. Now, he's turning Congress into his circus.

I have been on some Fox Nation and Fox news blogs and yes, when one points it out, they get attacked as being Obama's lovers and such.

The talking point now is the Hillary Clinton was the first and true birther and that she planted, with the help of Media Matters, that meme in Conservatives circles to make them look bad.

As a whole, Cruz's attention-whoring was probably detrimental to the right wing agenda, but come election time, he's going to be drowning in teabagger cash

Low information voters eat this kind of political theater up like it was puppy chow.

Well...that could be partially true.  It's easy to forget how pugnacious the Clintons were back in the 2008 campaign towards Obama.  I'm sure Obama's citizenship was discussed at least in passing inside the Clinton campaign.  With that being said, if Obama was actually not born in the US, that would have never gotten past the Clinton campaign.

Because Romney did not make an issue of it during the general election.  He dropped the whole issue once he got the nomination.  Nobody knows why.

The real referendum on Obamacare was in the congressional elections.  A majority of the House of Representatives was elected on the promise to repeal Obamacare.

Yeah, that's complete horseshiat.  I distinctly remember Romney going on an Obamacare tirade on the second debate.  I remember this because before doing so, he asked Obama if it was OK if he called it "Obamacare" and Obama said he didn't mind.
