HOW do they figure these things out?

Oklahoma troopers say a Camaro recovered from a lake last week that's connected to the 1970 disappearance of three teens shows signs of an accident.

Maybe they were just taking it for a joyride?

Just out of curiosity, was it a USS model?

Apparently, there was telltale moisture on the vehicle.

Women drivers!

Aside from subby's sarcasm, they mean that the car hit the lake while running with the throttle open. It wasn't pushed into the lake or allowed to idle into it. So it was probably someone making a Ted Kennedy-type mistake.

Since the original story was on Fark already wouldn't that make [Followup] the proper tag instead of [obvious]

still wondering if they will go to the other big lakes in the state with this sonar and start looking around boat ramps.  My money is on Eufaula and Tenkiller.  Although, having grown up in the area and knowing what the lake looks like (and it hasn't gotten better in 30 years) Lake Atoka might have all kinds of crap in it.

Nonsense. The owner's parents obviously drove it up there from the Bahamas.

I'd wager that if you ran a sonar over most lakes in urban areas you'd have a sudden break in lots of unsolved insurance claims. Just saying. No I've never done that! I'm too chicken. Plus I like my car.

We joke, but they have to do this shiat, to keep some dipshiat with too much time on his/her hands (or grieving family members) from insisting it was murder by satanists or whatever.

I've never understood why we assume everybody who disappears has met with foul play. There are probably cars at the bottom of every lake in America, containing the remains of really shiatty (or unlucky) drivers/passengers.

It is for the family left behind of the missing kids...I can't imagine not knowing what happened for that long.

Because we have an adversarial legal system.

They do, but not in stories where there are lines like this: Oklahoma troopers say a Camaro recovered from a lake last week that's connected to the 1970 disappearance of three teens shows signs of an accident.

Really? And here I thought that car was showroom-new at the bottom of that lake!

That isn't a Camaro, I'm sorry that's an abomination. Now I realize that the VIN might register as a Camaro, that it might have the badges of a Camaro, but it's actually an overgrown Hot Wheel. I think it might be best argued that in a former life it was a Camaro...

I've owned Camaros, 2 in fact. They are ALL overgrown Hot Wheels.

Hoyle says the evidence suggests foul play was not involved and that the driver may have been unfamiliar with his surroundings.

I too would guess most drivers are unfamiliar with driving in a lake.

Don't point out to the idiot brigade that it makes a difference whether the car hit the water at speed or was rolled into the lake gently with the kids already dead inside. They think they are as funny as subby.

They are correct.
