(NBC News)   Apparently calling all your party members sluts at a women's event is a bad idea. Who knew?   (worldnews.nbcnews.com) divider line 34

FTA: Last month, Bloom also sparked controversy when he said foreign aid was being sent to "bongo bongo land."

I don't recall the States receiving any British aid lately.

British sluts have a self-deprecating sense of humor.

"Euroskeptic" = "States' Rights"

Bloom later tweeted that he had been "purposely outrageous."

Well of course. And if we don't find it funny, clearly we're the ones with the problem. We just don't have a sense of humor. He's sincerely sorry if anyone was offended.

No seriously, how is that even remotely a joke? I'm sort of surprised this came from a British lawmaker: I have this prejudice that they're more refined than American lawmakers.

At the height of her popularity, old squares thought of her as a slut, I'm guessing.

It's more than a little sexist to assume that a comment about sluts should offend women.

It implies men can't be sluts.

UKIP is the BNP without the racism. They have decided to keep the sexism and nationalism, though.

a flock of birds: It's more than a little sexist to assume that a comment about sluts should offend women.

When I was younger I thought of the term 'slut' as being an insult.
(The accepted denotative meaning is a sexually promiscuous woman).

But this only holds true if virginity is valued, implying that a woman's sexual favors are a commodity.
If a 'slut' is a woman who has sex with lots of men for free, then the term 'slut' should be a complement.

And I, for one, would like to offer a sincere Thank You to all the sluts that I have known.
You have given me some of the best times of my life.
