If you take that at face value, it means Grey Matter will likely have little to do with the conclusion. Which disappoints me, though I know a lot of you Farkers disagree.

Yeah, that was my takeaway, too, although it did make a cool plot point that seeing them is what reinvigorated Walt when he was ready to give up.  (Of course, I'm sure something else would have had the kid not suggested their reintroduction.)

grey matter has EVERYTHING to do with the conclusion - Grey Matter being on television lying their ass off about walt's contribution to the company was the reason he decided in the end NOT to give himself up.

No, he isn't going to storm the company and shoot "innocent" people - he is just going to go down as Heisenberg, and M-60 the living shiat out of Jack and crew.

The end is basically going to be Walt's Assault.

The lucky will be those that die in the gunfire.

I didn't mean it wouldn't play a part as motivation or whatnot, just that it might not show up in the real sense, ie going after Gretchiott/GM itself.

I think we'll get a flashback summarizing what went down with Grey Matter (it will be thematically similar in some ways to what the Jack and his crew did to him ) and we'll witness the first moment where "Heisenberg was truly born.

Then the rampage will commence.

What impresses me is that the kid was given a chance to read the series finale script - and TURNED IT DOWN.  He stated the reason being that he knew he couldn't keep it a secret.  Now THAT is a super fan.

I really did enjoy that plot point.  Walt's anger with hearing his life's work being slandered and discredited felt very real (to me damnit).

Doesn't it take a reasonable amount of time and training to learn how to fire an M-60 with any real ability? I'm all for Walt going Scarface on Grey Matter and the Nazis, but an M-60?

2013-09-25 12:40:20 PM
People of course read way too much into the Grey Matter thing on TV, as confirmed by this article.

We might get a brief glimpse at the origin of Walt's anger there, but it's only going to be to further the plot of his empire being taken away by the Nazis. The main take away was that he learned Blue Meth was still being cooked, which tells him that Jesse is probably still alive, and that other people are once again taking credit for his work. This ties in with the Grey Matter and how pissed he was at them for taking credit for his accomplishments.

There is no more Walt. There is only Heisenberg.

/Of course there will be a scene of Walt slightly redeeming himself by realizing he controls his own actions and deep down he's still that guy from Episode 1 when he saves Jesse.

I'm perfectly fine with the whole Grey Matter issue being left as a bit of a "Grey" area. Even by...what...Season 2 maybe I had enough of an idea to fill in the gaps myself and create my own Walt-at-Grey-Matter backstory.

My take on it was at that point he lost his empire, his life work after cooking, and his family. Up at that point he now really only has his name and his remembrance of what could have been had he not sold out. And the reality is that HE was Grey Matter, he was half of it and the fact that Gretchen and Elliot are trying to rewrite history?

Hell no he won't stand for that

Well, let me back that up a bit...I didn't literally piece together some coherent, detailed history there on my own. What I really mean to say is that for me, it's more than enough to just accept that Walt left feeling he was stabbed in the back. That's why the infamous "....I build empires..." speech he gave Jesse towards the end of the first installment of Season 5 really wasn't a big shock.

/book it, done

2013-09-25 12:49:57 PM

Aristocles: The detail of Grey Matter in the last BB episode was so small that I pretty much forgot about it until seeing this post. I think Walt's main reasons for heading back are 1) to kill the nazis and 2) to try to get his family back. He was in the bar to talk to Walt Jr. and it was after that phone call that he cast the die.

What?  Maybe you should re-watch the episode again, because you missed a lot.  After the call to Walt Jr, he called the ABQ DEA office to turn himself in.  It was not until Grey Matter appeared on TV that he suddenly changed his motivation and decided not to get arrested.  To say Grey Matter will not have any factor is just not right.

If he's hidden behind some penetrable cover and not seen until he starts firing and his targets are within a hundred yards, I think a fourteen year old could hit near 100%.  Assuming it is well mounted and in good firing condition.  But I trust Walt's ability to read a TM.

In the episode where the Madrigal exec who'd been working with Gus Fring commits suicide with a defribrillator, we see a shot from the lobby of Madrigal HQ where the Los Pollos Hermanos sign is being taken down. I took that as a sign that that chain was either gone or was being rebranded.

Well, seeing as when you are out in nature and don't have any toilet paper, they suggest you use leaves and grass to wipe, I suppose it's fitting if you run out of toilet paper in the bathroom that you use Leaves Of Grass.
