I see fatties all over with shorts on (bleah) and wearing those orthopedic knee socks (ace bandage for the muscles around the knees)

Lose the weight.

People go hungry all over the world and you have to shove more calories in your piehole than you can burn off?
What's the problem? Were you molested? Mommy didn't feed you enough? Got stuck on hind tit as a kid?
Mommy didn't love you?

STFU and push the fork away.

You want to ride a scooter through woolmort?
Is that your farking life's goal?

Put down the cheesypoofs, you cartman-assed freakin eating machines.
Use your muscles and do something besides eat!

Stop it!
Before your heart, knees, and the rest of you explodes in a adipose aerosol of amino acids!

This study doesn't take into account how large the average Farker's kneebones are.

Also, BMI is the tinfoil hat used by Big Exercise to keep lard out of their fatwaves.

As will your heart, liver, kidneys, veins, arteries, brain, arches and naughty bits.

A week of healthy exercise and diet will make an enormous difference. A lifetime of change will make just that--a lifetime. Unless you're hit by a meteorite.

It's amazing how many nagging aches and pains just "go away" once you drop the weight. If you do it right you can enjoy fried foods, bacon double cheeseburgers, chocolate, etc., and without the guilt.

I dropped 70 lbs and have kept it off for about 7 years now. I have done it and still enjoy unhealthy foods. It's all about exercise and moderation.

I've been dealing with knee cracking for years now.  I blame age.  I've never been overweight, so it can't be that.

Pfft. I don't think I buy that. I eat a lot of crap food and also drink diet soda (the other thing that is "responsible" for making us all fat). I don't overeat and I'm actually getting a little too thin right now. You know why? You won't believe this, but---I exercise too much and don't eat enough.

I've been dealing with knee cracking for years now.  I blame age.  I've never been overweight, so it can't be that.

Creaking is probably different than cracking.  Creaking can be from crepitus (bone on bone) which often is a patellar tracking disorder, pretty common in a lot of people.  Tight IT bands, weak stabilizing muscles.  Your patella is supposed to track nicely in a groove on the end your femur that's cushioned by a lot of cartiledge.  if it tracks off to the side one way or the other, it will rub on bone.  Can lead to chronic knee pain but also treatable.

Cracking or popping can be a tendon snapping into place or something to do with sinovial fluid.  i don't know that it has every proven to be a big deal unless accompanied by pain or other symptoms.

I was going to provide a much less technical and accurate answer -  I had creaky painful knees for a long time until I switched to minimal running shoes for both running and squatting.  Also adding a better warmup routine (google 'super squat mobility') made a big difference in loosening up the hip joints.

Getting my stride and exercise form worked out seems to have helped line up everything from the feet up through the hips, and I'm a lot less crackly as a result.

I read somewhere, that HFCS is worse than most people think.  Not all sugars are the same, and HFCS is the worst.   Something about its sweet index, a ring structure, 5 carbons and a sugar high that'll start you Jonesin'

I need to lose weight. I went on vacation last week and did alms hiking, and I jumped from a rock to ledge an it felt like my right heel exploded. Still can't walk on it right. Then I tried to take a picture of a waterfall and slipped and fell sideways, with my right shoulder breaking the fall, and a week later my right arm still hurts in certain positions.

you sound fat

losing weight isnt hard. dont snack between meals, just eat one course at each meal (3 meals a day!), and cut out starches in the evening (not because food you eat late makes you fatter than food you eat early... that's nonsense, but because it's easier to function if you're a bit low on energy when you don't have to get up and go to work and be busy).

and if you drink a lot you'll have to switch to whisky and diet ginger, or something. and not too much of it

2013-09-25 12:13:36 PM
The main reason I don't want to get fat is how it must make you feel. It can't feel good. I see overweight people (this is Texas, after all, they're everywhere) shuffling along, sometimes wheezing (or just breathing hard) as they get on the elevator or go up a short flight of steps and think of how shiatty they must feel, carrying around all that extra weight.

I feel shiatty enough at normal weight. I hate to think how bad I'd feel if my ass was twice as big and I had to haul it around everywhere.

I had a coworker who was over 100 lbs heavier than necessary.  He transferred, and when I saw him again he had lost all the extra weight.  I really didn't recognize him, as he was down to only 120 lbs.  I joked about his fuel millage, to which he replied, "It is so much better, I'm saving a fortune in gas cost."  Yes, he was still using the same car.  I didn't expect a serious response from him; he was in a grumpier mood since his wife left him.

I'll do you one better. I'll solve the problem for you:

If you think ingesting HFCS makes you fat, stop eating things that contain HFCS.

Oh, and another thing: if emergency response people ever have to get my ass out of some dangerous situation, I want them to be able to do it easily, not bring in the extra heavy duty lift. I think any reasonably fit firefighter could lift me with not much problem.
