Could this be an elaborate ratings grabber for the TV stations? Something smells fishy after reading this:

Nexstar, which owns both KARK and Fox16 has requested they be in adjacent cells so that they can position the cameras between the two in order to do tonight's weather reports live from the Pulaski County Detention Facility.

No, but it could be an elaborate ratings grabber for some guy's news spoof website.

Good.  It's about time someone took Baskin's down with his constantly inaccurate predictions of it being "31 degrees" all the time.

Heh, from what I can tell in the archives, there was no recorded precip for either Saturday or Sunday.

After the KARK broadcast Monahan returned to his desk to find a note from Baskin that said "Meet me by the flag pole out front."

Their high school has weathermen?

When I was a kid, I bagged groceries at a store near a nice neighborhood.  Two of the local meteorologists from competing stations would get off work about the same time an usually stop in for something on the way home.  They really disliked each other and would talk all sorts of shiat about the other when they were alone, but in the store they were super friendly to one another.
Still, every one in a while, they'd get to a screaming mach in the parking lot.  It was always over a snow forecast and it was always awesome.

Updated: 4/05 1:40 amPublished: 4/04 5:10 pmLITTLE ROCK, AR - Fox16 and KARK 4 have formed the Arkansas Storm Team, a partnership that will expand and enhance both station's coverage of severe weather. Led by KARK Chief Meteorologist Keith Monahan and Fox16 Chief Meteorologist Jeff Baskin, the partnership will feature a team of six meteorologists. In addition to Monahan and Baskin, the team includes Greg Dee, Pat Walker, Natalie Walters, and Steve Adamson.
"This is an unprecedented partnership," said KARK Chief Meteorologist Keith Monahan. "I'm not sure you'll find any other place in the country utilizing as many as six meteorologists at one time to ensure the safety of viewers."
"The partnership allows each meteorologist to focus on specific areas of expertise and experience," added Fox16 Chief Meteorologist Jeff Baskin. "With this many eyes on the storm systems, you can count on the Arkansas Storm

There were three huge red flags. If you managed to miss them all, be proud.

1) The "2nd most unreliable news source" tag line.

2) The statement that the company that owns both stations requested that they be put in adjacent cells so that the weather forecast can be broadcast live from the jail... without the cameraman getting all tuckered out moving the camera, I guess.

3) The obviously posed pre-fight photo.

Considering the literacy rate in Little Rock, I would say that two is a pretty high number of Little Rock TF subscribers.

We actually have a third guy coming up now that we have real high hopes of being able to speak basic English, and he can even count to 11 without removing items of his clothing.  Not counting of course his shoes, cause everyone knows we don't wear those.  But he might not make it out of the gang-bangers, so we are still waiting.

I live 20 miles from magnolia. there's times I feel like Arkansas really is that way. Then I remember I didn't turn out too bad and after growing up here then moving to Pennsylvania I realized Arkansas was by no means the worst state.

dmarlar: the worst state.

Some would argue the state of PA is worse than a state of death.
