Congressional staffers work for Congresscritters, subby. This was a legislative staffer, working for a legislator. Stay in the shallow end.

missouri house, not US congress.

still, despite the mistake, the headline is still true: you knew it was a republican, and it could have happened in just about any state capitol.

Sure, the rest is true. His boss is one of the clowns that tried (and fortunately failed) to make it a felony for cops to enforce all gun laws.

To top it off, even with his Palinesque understanding of the Constitution, Jones now wants to be the state AG.

CSB time:

My Sergeant Major had some creative ideas

One of my units Sergeants left his weapon in the crapper

My Sergeant Major made him carry around a 2x4 with a big ole smiley face that said "Don't lose me, I am your friend!". I think he had that thing for two weeks

Oh, BTW, that was in Iraq, which is why we were carrying our weapons around -- even in the crapper

Plenty of legislators want to do that to cops who enforce immigration laws, i.e. sanctuary cities

untaken_name: How many people did the gun shoot before they were able to safely bring it down?

It's a 9 mil, it would do about as much damage as a copper pellet.

/.45ACP is the minimal caliber for anything but paper plinking

My 9 year old son is going on a field trip to the Georgia capitol tomorrow.  We'll have to review what to do if you find a gun laying around before he heads to school tomorrow.

/Find a responsible adult and tell them
//Probably rules out half the people there

2013-09-24 08:37:39 PM
and it being reported in the media is just a liberal plot to make him look like an irresponsible gun owner. Study it out.

How about I shoot you with a 9 mm and see how you feel.

Rules to a gunfight:
Have a gun
Hit your target
...
Make a big hole in it

/Own a 1911, not a 9 mm

"The only people regularly in the capitol this time of year are legislative staffers," Newman told HuffPost. "You feel that much fear of your coworkers that you need to carry a loaded weapon with you?"

Who's to say Bane won't break in with some of his underlings? Or the bad guy from Skyfall?

His chief of staff, Tom Smith, released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying Evans had apologized for the incident and pledged to take a gun safety class.

What... what's that supposed to do, exactly?  I'm pretty sure he already knew he shouldn't leave his gun in a bathroom.

While I question its efficacy, memory training would be less of an empty gesture.
