Ohio County animal control officials were working Monday to rescue the dogs that were found Saturday. Many are puppies, officials told WFIE, and others were described as "extremely pregnant."

So remember folks, keep your dogs fed and watered.
She probably died and then the dogs ate her when they got hungry.

I'd trust a pet cougar before I'd trust a pet wolf.  But that's only because dogs suck so bad and cats rule.

Unless they were Pugs.  Then they'd be extremely repugnant.

I can't count the number of people I've known who claim that their dog is half wolf. I ask them, "has it eaten you yet," and they say, "no." I say, "then it's not half wolf."

"I've been fighting tears a lot today," she said. "I cannot understand why someone would live like this and put animals through this."

Mental illness. Next question.

so much for my plan to raise direwolves crossed with corgis.

Bah.  Submitted this days ago as:
Tragedy today, as Kentucky woman Patricia Ritz was eaten by her pet wolves. She was delicious

2013-09-24 07:07:16 PM
She wasn't a legitimate breeder or rescue organization, she was a hoarder with a history of keeping animals in deplorable conditions.  She most likely dropped dead of a stroke or heart attack or something and the poor creatures resorted to eating her flesh because they had nothing else to eat.

"Wolf" sounds cooler than "spitz."

2013-09-24 07:09:32 PM
So did the dogs just eat Ritz, or did they put anything on her first?

This is important to the story.

Those would be okay. They'd want to eat you, but they'd never be able to run fast enough to catch you.

Need to sticky this to bring up every time some east coast animal lover tells us we should be happy to have had wolves reintroduced. After all they are noble animals.

Fun fact, you are many times more likely to be killed by a Moose than a bear, wolf, mountain lion, or any other predator in the US.

I once spliced a gene into a terrier that allowed it to fart argon.  Now there was a noble breed.

Corgis are actually a herding breed, so I'm pretty sure they could catch you.

False correlation. Generally we aren't so worried about wolf attacks on people. More generally it is a livestock issue. When I hear of a moose wiping out a herd of sheep I'll cede the point to you.

Too late, I've already advocated for more wolves in the east.

FTA: "Records show that Ritz had a history of animal cruelty charges and convictions extending back at least a quarter-century.
Her first known offense came in 1986, when she was sentenced to a year's probation in an investigation involving at least 50 dogs in Posey County, Ind. She was convicted of five counts the next year in Evansville and was ordered never to transport dogs into Indiana again.
Other convictions came in 1997 in Greenville, Ky., (120 dogs) and in 2002 (38 dogs)."

Your dogs want revenge, you sick bitsh.

/wolf is just another animal
//should be allowed to exist as a species and be managed like any other species (yes, this includes hunting).

67 years old, and you try to keep a huge number of big dogs that try to express their affection by leaping all over you, you fall over and break.

There was once an old dog food commercial that the wolf overacted in by knocking the spokesman over... doesn't seem to be on YT.
