Barlow told local news that she had no intention of buying another e-cigarette: "Seeing your child on fire and hearing them scream 'Help me!' is pretty terrifying. That's why I'm going back to smoking two packs a day. My son's steady coughing and wheezing is music to my ears."

I remember in the 80's we'd buy these little explosive things that looked like a grain of rice that you could slide into someone's unlit cigarette, so when they smoked it it would explode. Maybe someone made one for e-cigs.

I've seen one of those things explode.  You don't want to be close when it happens.

There was a loud pop, and a fireball that reached to the ceiling momentarily.  Then the sparks and smoke started.  Burned a hole into an office desk and melted a phone.  And all of it happened in less than a minute.  There wasn't even time to react -- by the time we got there with the fire extinguisher, the damage was done.

Ive heard of modded ones exploding. the kind that you put your own batteries in or dicked with the voltage regulator, or if you have one that doesnt cut itself off if you drag too long... I do not believe theres a problem with them if you use them as intended and stop trying to rice your vaporizer out.

Number of cell phones that have exploded: ????

Just saying, I bet that number is far greater than 1...

FTFA: Provo Fire Marshal Lynn Schofield said he has no doubt Barlow's White Rhino e-cigarette exploded, saying it's the second such incident in Provo.

So at least 2. Maybe just stay out of Provo?

Is what is suppose to be in those things, just like corn and chicken by products are suppose to be the ingredients of dog food but it did not stop the Chinese from adding poison to it a couple of years ago.

What can I say I just don't trust drug pushers all that much.

If it's the kind you load with "oils' then yes most of the time it is used for hash oil. A number of my friends figured this out a while back, it allows them to get stoned in public places.

Kinzie Barlow told a local TV station she was driving in Provo on Friday with her son, Khonor, when she noticed a strange smell. "Then there was a big bang, and kind of a flash, and there's smoke everywhere," she said.

It's not smoke, it's water vapor.

Of course everyone's going to come out of the woodwork and find reasons to dismiss this story, defend e-cigs, and poo-poo the safety concerns.

And addict is an addict, after all. So you've moved your addiction from real cigs to electric cigs? Big deal. You still haven't shaken that monkey off your back.

E-cig helped me to completely  quit nicotine.  The nicotine in e-cigs is variable to zero, slowly weening off was what worked for me.

No. When there's a fire caused by a burning coil hitting your child's car seat, that's SMOKE. The car seat was not emitting water vapor.

But see? Already with the propaganda. Addicts will do anything to defend their habit.

Have you quit e-cigs?

Because if you're still using e-cigs, you're still addicted. You just switched addictions.

Same thing happens when people quit drugs and become born again Christians. They're still addicts.
