KarmicDisaster: Why doesn't he just fall on the floor and kick his little feet and pound his fists until he gets his diaper changed.

Because Vitter would give him the stinkeye in the cloak room for the rest of his term if he horned in on his diaper gig.

NeoCortex42: Mrtraveler01: NeoCortex42: Mrtraveler01: NeoCortex42: Cruz: The 2012 election was a whole year ago. The past year has been like Pearl Harbor. The people have changed their minds.

Did he really say that?

More or less. His argument was about campaign promises.
- before WWII, lots of senators promised to stay out of the war
- Pearl Harbor happened
- senators and constituents changed their minds, just like they've changed their minds about Obamacare now.

Did he explain how this year has been like Pearl Harbor?

He really does seem like Billy Madison if he was a Senator.

Unions used to be in favor of Obamacare, now they're against it. It's practically the same thing.

Actucally, there's like one provision they have a beef with.

That won't stop the GOP from saying that they all hate it, of course.

Kind of. The mandate portion is applied through the tax code, so the IRS is on that. The other heavy hitting stuff is in other agencies, though.

The IRS is enforcing Obamacare?

Well, actually, sort of. In the sense that the IRS will take it out of your taxes (after your subsidy) if you refuse to buy insurance. The "individual mandate: That's something that the Republicans themselves insisted on putting in there because they were worried that someone might get a "free ride" by not buying insurance until they were sick. The whole idea is that by forcing people to buy insurance the taxpayers won't have to pay for them when they inevitably get sick as they do now when they show up at the emergency room uninsured.

WHAT MONOPOLY??

There is no MONOPOLY. You have no idea what you are talking about.

I'm simplifying, everyone has to pay for it---it's not one government hospital per se, but it's program where everyone is required to pay into, in order to fund those who can't afford it.

A) No everyone doesn't have to pay for it.
B) And by "simplifying" you mean lying.

They can still choose who they want to buy from. In fact there is going to be more competition. That is not a "monopoly". You seem to not understand what that word actually means.

I'm not making it a dem v republican argument, because it isn't one. The point is that people are toeing party lines without looking at the facts of the bill, and what it does for corporations. Something that some supposed progressives would be typically against. It's similar blind idolatry that was going on during the bush years.
