It's good to see that going along with his contrarian character he seems to be the only person who likes Skip Bayless.

I would wager that Skip Bayless is directly responsible for about 80% of ESPNs loss of viewership in the last couple years.

That's why I stopped watching anything other than games on that network.

TFA erred in saying he "just may be the most polarizing figure in sports today".
"Polarizing" implies that there are pro-Skip Bayless people.

So much this.

I turn the channel if either one of them are on.

When they're both on at the same time, I can't reach for the remote fast enough. Just terrible, terrible television.

There must be some shock-jock psychology ESPN picked up from ABC radio.
People tune in just to make themselves mad. Only way it makes any sense.

If there was any intent on his part to come across as something at least resembling that of a human being, he utterly failed on #9.

Unfortunately I think you are wrong. I don't know the ratings but I'd wager that his and Smith's stupid, uninformed and controversial statements generate good ratings for their show.

The story about why he changed his name to his nickname was impactful.  Then I wondered, well, why not changed his last name too, his drunk violent dad passed that to him too.  Then I thought of Skip bloviating on ESPN calling himself Skip X.  And I laughed.

Can't argue that. He's a commentator (and not a good one) on a tv sports network, not curing the common cold/cancer/Alzheimers/whatever your favorite disease is.

What a colossal cockbag.

2013-09-24 08:37:17 PM
I'm only interested in whether or not he's still alive so I can celebrate as soon as he isn't.

Hopefully he'll go out in a head on collision with another car driven by Stephen A. Smith with both of them flying through the windshields at impact and smashing into each other with such force they create an Asshole Vortex that sucks their remains and all human knowledge of these two straight into hell to torture damned souls for all of eternity..

Him and their focus on infotainment were the reason why I left. Show me games, highlights, classic games, etc., not blowhard analysts, Tebow, Favre, Yankees, Red Sox, and Danica Patrick.

Also, fark Berman and Scott.

From the Post's profile,

[Bayless has] helped make "First Take" ESPN2's top-rated program, which last year averaged 350,000 viewers each weekday. Spurred by the show's popularity, ESPN and other sports networks have made on-air debate a programming staple.

I might be the only one that likes Skip.  My only complaint is that he speaks about Ernestine too much on the show.  He must have great restraint not to punch Stephen A in the face for interrupting him all the time.

First Take is literally the male version of The View.

It is painful to listen to a bunch of appallingly ignorant guys quack incessantly about subjects they think they understand but don't (and why are they always yelling?).

That still just blows my mind. The two cookbooks I have by Rick are fun to read. He is really passionate about his craft and it still cracks me up that a white dude from the midwest is more or less the foremost expert on Mexican cuisine in this country.

Skip is a toolbag.

The dumbest five minutes of TV that it was ever my misfortune to watch was a debate last year between Steven A. Smith and Barry Melrose about whether the Heat or the Blackhawks had a "more impressive" win streak. I swear I could feel my IQ dropping while I watched.

You probably couldn't be more wrong.  I have no overtly negative opinion on Bayless but I farking loathe Smith; and, I mean, like I really, really would like to challenge him to a fight kinda hate.  But, yet, the two of them are trotted out there at every opportunity on ESPN's variety of channels.

So, either we have a lottery-like mishap with the Nielsen boxes/surveys where only fans of the show have the reports or there are a LOT of people who love them, bastardizing the ratings.

11. I get paid to troll you. And you eat it up like the idiots you are, thanks for paying for my big house and all these prostitutes, people who say they hate me.

Apparently trolling works as well in real life as it does on Fark. You can make a good living saying stupid shiat so people can get a hard on telling you how wrong you are and that the things you say are stupid. Because ignoring it would just be too easy.

Something is really hurting ESPN's ratings this year and it isn't Fox Sports 1.

I'm going to wager that the in house league networks are cutting into Espn's viewership. Until MLB Network came along, I watched ESPN for baseball highlights and for background noise when the kids don't have control of the TV.

I don't watch NFL network as much, but I think the sunday night highlight showis miles ahead of Boomer's bips, boops, and bops.

I've also heard that NBA network has some good stuff but to be honest, I'm more of a Lakers fan than an NBA fan. I know the NHL network isn't hurting thrm but that's just cause they all but abadoned the NHL after they lost/gave up broadcast rights.

When you start your list off with "God is central to my life" or any rough equivalent, 99-100% of what follows is guaranteed to be self-serving and come off as begging.
