James!: Someone cares about this and that is sad for them.
I_C_Weener: James!: Someone cares about this and that is sad for them.Says some guy hiding behind an internet nom de keyboard.
Felgraf: It is possible that she is experiencing something Popehat also experienced.A sort of spam-attack to try and get your twitter pulled (by signing up lots of fake followers, then going "LOOK! THEY HAVE LOTS OF FAKE FOLLOWERS.")http://www.popehat.com/2013/09/17/spam-attack-immediately-follows-po st -on-brett-kimberlin/I have no idea, though. I didn't even know that was a thing that could happen.
Of course, this being The Daily Caller, a site founded by the bow tie-wearing dick Tucker Carlson (to use Jon Stewart's phrase), I'm sure the tenor of the article was "LOLZ Fartbama's wife twitter account is fake".
abhorrent1: This just in: People create accounts on websites then never use them.
Arkanaut: Out of how many?
ElLoco: Is there some purpose for 'fake' twitter accounts? Is it a number padding game, or what's the deal?
Famous Thamas: I_C_Weener: James!: Someone cares about this and that is sad for them.Says some guy hiding behind an internet nom de keyboard.I hope you don't mind if I steal "nom de keyboard", that is a great phrase.
JerseyTim: ElLoco: Is there some purpose for 'fake' twitter accounts? Is it a number padding game, or what's the deal? They're spam accounts trying to blend in by looking like they follow what everyone else follows. Bill Simmons (2.2 million followers) frequently mentions on his podcast that he felt that once he hit a certain amount of followers, the spam bots started piling on.
cheyanne9: The world community can handle more fake things from Barry and Mooochelle.Just don't twerk us anytime soon, that would be devastating!
ChewbaccaJones: ...and that would compare to the entire user-base of Twitter how?If those are the same proportion of fake/inactive accounts across all of Twitter; or at least across a representative sampling of other accounts with high-numbers of followers than this is a non-story or a purposely misleading story. If those numbers are way outside the norm across all of Twitter, or across that same representative sample, then this is an incomplete story.Either way...shiatty story.
mediablitz: Something tells me Michelle Obama didn't fork over money to gain twitter followers.
blunttrauma: Honestly, who cares? I don't particularly care for her or her husband, but there are lots of reasons to criticize them that actually matter.
DarkSoulNoHope: I once had a Brazilian follower on my twitter feed.Felt emptier once she left.
Nabb1: Who the hell follows a Twitter account obviously run by someone else anyway? Or any Twitter account for that matter?
mediablitz: They invited everyone but you to the New Year's party?
blunttrauma: mediablitz: They invited everyone but you to the New Year's party? This is a pleasant surprise. Normally when someone on Fark mentions they don't care for the President (or his politics), they are called racist.
brantgoose: If I read that right, the definition of "fake" is "inactive". Seeing as I haven't posted anything to Twitter in like, forever, I must be a fake Twitter account. I would like the t-shirt please.I AM A FAKE TWITTER ACCOUNT. I think I will befriend poor old Michelle and not post anything to her fake Twitter account until Election 2014.
Nabb1: Or any Twitter account for that matter?
