Hiyooooo!

2013-09-24 01:07:09 PM
Or for farks sake. The Jobs dick sucking keeps rising to level I'd never imagined..

This is serious?  Really?  When I first heard of this, I thought it was a joke.   Wow, I guess the standards for historically relevant have been lowered substantially.

With all the worship Apple products get, I wouldn't be surprised if someone turned the place into shrine

Meanwhile, who ever heard of Douglas Engelbart or JCR Licklider?

After this we should put the toilet where Andy Rubin sat when he thought up of Android..

2013-09-24 01:22:33 PM
Does that mean we'll have to deal with the Knights of Jobs?.

It will become a place of pilgrimage for hipsters to travel to in their tight pants, and stroke their beards contemplatively

Hold your outrage, guys, this is a local municipal historical marker.  This probably  is one of the most historically significant sites in farking Los Altos, the threshold in that township is likely not exactly high.  You could probably pick up a marker for posting one of those joke "Heisenberg might have slept here" signs.

I hope it becomes the next Lourdes.

Quantum Apostrophe: Meanwhile, who ever heard of Douglas Engelbart or JCR Licklider?

Those sound like characters in a Pynchon novel. They can't possibly be real.

This, plus, neighboring Palo Alto already put David Packard's garage on a historical register.  (Birthplace of Hewlett-Packard, for those of you who remember when that meant more -- quite a lot more, actually -- than shiatty software and overpriced ink.)

Why?

But how FAST asleep was he?

What about making his birthplace a/an (I prefer a) historical site?

You can judge how successful Apple's launch of the new iPhones is by how many anti-Apple threads we get here on Fark. The more iPhones they sell, the more paid shills and brainwashed douchebags we find here, spouting scripted remarks and lame propaganda.

Why not? They did the same to the HP garage.

And more Apple fanboys feeling the need to defend their products...

Supposedly the original pricing for the Apple I was the sum of $500 and a 1/3 markup, but they still get geek cred for making it $666.66.

I know.  Gets worse when you consider it took Inman getting involved to save Teslas old property in New York.

Best best of all, they can get Woz to explain how he made it work while Steve was deciding what colour it should be.

Watched Jobs last night. It was more terrible than I even hoped for.

If you wanted to make an Apple museum out of a guy's house, do the Woz's. Seriously. Everybody sucks Jobs' dick just because he could yell really loud and find ways to make money out of the products his beaten employees timidly slid onto his desk.

Just drop all pretense and call it a shrine.

I think it's hilarious that at EPCOT Center, the pinnacle of human achievement according to "Spaceship Earth" (the ride inside the geosphere) is Stevens Wozniak and Jobs designing the Apple personal computer in that garage.

Then again, the entire park is a 1982 vision of The Future.

Joseph actually looks kind of like a young Steve Jobs in that painting.

Hmm.

I get the feeling the inside of Woz's house already looks like a computer museum.

Back to the future, in so many ways..

For what it's worth, I've heard that Woz spends at least some of his time leading guided tours of the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.

So if Apple release a new device and the internet is full of people saying how good it is then that to you is paid shills.  However if Apple release a new device and the internet isn't full of people saying how good it is then this is because of paid shills.

This is an interesting argument and seems both equal parts flammable and straw.
