BS

Apparently those sanctions really are hurting them pretty hard and even the Ayatollah has come put publicly in favor of compromise to strike some deal, so I wouldn't call BS just yet.

We have always been at war with Eastasia.   We have always been at peace with Eastasia.

You know the other part of that lasting peace? The US.

It's really not complicated, there's just a lot of derp on both sides.

The idea is simple, they should use a thorium reactor. It has less risks, cheaper fuel and easier to deal with waste. They can then sell it to other nations as a green cheap solution. Problem solved, but they don't want this solution because it means they cannot make weapons out of it.

I'm pretty right sided, I don't want war at all. I just don't want another fanatic country having nukes. Unlike N Korea, those Iranian nut balls will use them to kill the infidel.

It's amazing to me how many warmongers get pissed and cynical and 'yeah right' whenever something like this happens.

It's like they're getting upset that the world is getting more peaceful and they won't have a chance to fap to dead bodies as much as in the past.

Is the definition of 'warmongering' to include skepticism of Iran's sincerity based upon past behavior? If so, count me as a warmongering blood drinker. At least till the Iranians make a serious proposal.

A US President meeting a Saudi King as an equal, I can live with that. A US President being subservient to a Saudi King? I got to say I don't like it. Nope, not one bit.

Hey, we already decided that one of John Bolton's "Beyond the Axis of Evil" members isn't evil enough to intervene with militarily even when they are... you know, being all evily with sarin.

Maybe that was a dumb idea to begin with.

I read a study about a year ago that analysed the average number of violent deaths per year (can't remeber if it seperated out things like gang violence vs war) and then adjusted it to account for teh constantly increasing population of the planet.

The conclusion was that per currently-living-person, the world is safer today (from violent death anyways) than it has ever been in all of human history.

Now, whether or not you think that less violent deaths = peaceful is a matter of semantics, so depending on what you choose to believe you might be right or wrong.

Gosh. It's almost as if times change and countries stop being mortal enemies and eventually become trading partners and allies.

But that never really happens.  Just check out our mortal enemies Britain, France, Mexico, Virginia, Georgia, North/South Carolina, Texas, Louisania, Alabama, Tenessee, Mississippi, Florida, Arkansas, Spain, Germany, Turkey, Austria Hungary, Germany, Italy, Japan and Viet Nam.

H. L. Mencken

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.

I prefer chess, but if checkers is played by the actual rules the game is actually quite strategic and stimulating (still not claiming it is on par with chess, but it has its merits).  Sort of like Monopoly though, very few people play "by the book".

/Also, Chess Jazz is a damn good music label.
