Were they park rangers? I'm betting they were park rangers. It's all about money with them.

All in good fun until the Blackhawk pilot's buddies in the Apaches show up to contest the ticket.

I would love to meet the person who has the balls to write a ticket and post it on a Blackhawk.

Except that Army National Guard units arent part of the US Army; the National Guard is its own separate entity that isnt part of the military. So the ticket, which cites "US Army", is invalid on those grounds and should be dismissed without prejudice immediately.

Fun fact: national guard units are specifically and purposely left outside the military umbrella so they can be used for law enforcement purposes and not violate the Posse Comitatus Act which prohibits using the military for such purposes on US soil.

Parking the wrong way is what he got ticketed on?

Come on. No license plate, no brake lights or turn signals, it's wider than the lane and blocking traffic both ways. I don't see the pilot so it's an abandoned vehicle.

A real cop could turn this into a couple grand in fines easily.

I was hoping more in a joking matter, without doing the cops are pigs thing. But then again, I just woke up so I'm exceptionally naive for another 15 minutes or so.

/18 apparently, though I'm sure I could have done it with less except I just started randomly allowing things after awhile.

Going from the picture he was blocking the whole highway.  I could see a state trooper trying to get equipment in and people out getting annoyed.

Well the person who left the ticket...
She could have thrown a knock-down scream-and-shout
Have-it-out tirade
She could have made it real tough bringing up
All the hell that I raised
But no more wasted words on me
No, she kept short and sweet

I'm curious about the road map behind the windscreen. I figured military aircraft all had GPS and maps built in. Is that not true? Or do pilots bring maps as a backup?

If only they had something to help in that effort.

Like a helicopter.

I think that the cop has a great sense of humor, and knew that the ticket would be thrown-out. Either that, or this is fake and someone needs to get thrown out.

Or you know, something to use when you not in the aircraft anymore.  GPS is great and all, but paper maps tend to have batteries that last longer and are bit more portable.

Until they can expand the GPS map out into full map-size, I think the laminated version helps in many instances.

For one thing it reads "Boulder Flood Air Ops Map" so it's not exactly a run-of-the-mill road map. But you'd be surprised at the number of commercial and military aircraft that don't have a fancy, glass cockpit, moving map type setup, and even those pilots so-equipped will often carry the necessary charts anyway.

Yup... Never know when one of those pretty colored screens on a glass cockpit may decide to have a malfunction. Redundancy is a good thing.

Plenty of military aircraft don't have GPS or map displays. Most helicopters do not. What IS pretty cool if you ask me (which you didn't) is that now operations maps like these can be easily produced at the squadron level with Google maps and a photo manipulation program. I can see where that would make life a LOT easier for the flight crew.

Well, if they impound that helicopter, those army flyers will have a devil of a time rescuing people stuck out there in the wild. Personally, I think this is just the cops rattling their sabers in jest.

Much like the victims of Hurricanes and Lightning storms, many people in this disaster are left homeless and isolated in the Wild far from their state Capitals. They have to ignite some Flames just to scare away Panthers, Coyotes, and other Predators, and hopefully to attract aid from passing Jets. These people need help - put up Flyers, pull out Pens and paper and write your Senators, donate your old Blue Jackets. With help, the victims of this disaster will be living like Kings once again.

I think I'll wait and see what Satan's opinion before making a final judgement.
