Why does the NBA want me to stop watching so badly? Stern keeps trying the sport into a joke.

Probably because if something like this gets you so angry that you are going to stop watching, they probably don't want you as a fan anyway.

You sound like the guy who is pissed off because they don't use the 2 handed set shot very much anymore. In fact I bet you threaten to stop watching at least 3 times a year but still tune in for every one of your favorite team's game.

So what're they going to do for Ron Artest?

Did I say I'd stop watching?

As a 23 year old, that doesn't even make sense. You sound like a douche that makes a lot of assumptions.

Stern's gone in less than a year, so hold tight.

/And Seattle hopes the door doesn't hit him in the ass on the way out.
//Seriously, fark that guy.

The XFL kicked ass, I don't know how it failed.  I bet it would fly now.

/ lived in a townhouse next to 5, count them FIVE Memphis Maniax players for like 3 months.  They destroyed that townhouse in 3 months.

Bill Rosinski is a world-class radio announcer.  He's done multiple Super Bowls, and will be in this business another two decades at least.  But even he admits the only call people ever ask him about was Smart's kick return for a touchdown against the Saints in 2003, when he blurted out, "HE HATE ME!!!  WE LOVE YOU!!!"

Smart also introduced the brief yet fun Thanksgiving Week tradition of frozen turkey bowling for charity at an area Harris Teeter.

I'm hoping that the nicknames are approved by a committee. I would so hate for players to use nicknames that they'd never been called or cooked up by some sports conglomerate.

/Ace Rimmer, anyone?

So you think he is going to get cut?  I am hoping he wins a ring with Miami (not really but this is best case if they win again) and they show Beasley getting his ring and they pan to Charles in the studio.  Comedy gold.

Do you want to expand on that?  Because I fail to see how the NBA is at all irrelevant.

I'll be going to my first NBA game this year as part of my "Cleveland: We're Not Detroit" sports tour. Is it more interesting in person, like baseball?

The same six teams keep winning the titles every year, and fan bases are now just bandwagon jumpers waiting for one of those winning teams to win again. Wonder why you're trying so hard NBA, when you'll never be baseball and football.

Triple Oak: Wonder why you're trying so hard NBA, when you'll never be baseball and football.

Who the hell wants to be like baseball? No one is anywhere close to matching the NFL but the MLB is tied with the NBA and continuing to fall even lower from its original spot as America's favorite sport. Adding in college and even high school, baseball is a clear 3rd. Hell, adding in people just playing it outside of a structured league, it's even farther less popular than hoops. Baseball sucks and I only say that because you brought that boring ass sport into a basketball thread.

I can see the parallels. Both sports are full of overpaid superstars and are awful to watch on TV (and even more so in person). There's a great divide in both leagues between the top teams and the bottom teams, and the only ways to win are to trade for major talent or to build through the draft.

tbaughm: and the only ways to win are to trade for major talent or to build through the draft.

How else do teams usually win?

I'd rather have teams win because they're more talented than because they were lucky.
