And he did it while lying in bed.

.... in a total of 11 innings.  Okay, that's good. I get it. Coming off surgery and what-not.

I was more impressed with Uehara's stretch of 12+ innings of no runs, no hits, no walks, 16+ K closing. Essentially a perfect game and then some from the closer's spot.

Hitters are so distracted by his bizarre beard, they can't focus ion the ball.

It's a matter of instinct
It's a matter of conditioning
It's a matter of fact.

Plus he's a lefty with a 95+ MPH fastball. They're already slotting him into Mujica's spot since Mujica appears to have run out of gas. Also, he started the year at AA and is only 23 years old. He's given up 2 runs all year - a home run to Starlin Castro and a single that deflected off his glove against Pittsburgh. That's his loss, by the way - happened in the 11th inning and let in the winning run. That happened on July 30. In 25 appearances since then, he hasn't allowed a run and is averaging better than a strikeout an inning.

Yes, but did he spend the last year and a half recovering from Tommy John surgery?  Was he left on the scrap heap by his former team?
The point here is to consider what Wilson had to come back from to get where he is now.

His second Tommy John surgery, no less.
